Videographer? One or Two?!

De Andra, on December 6, 2019 at 22:00 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8

I'm currently at the "videographer" phase of wedding planning and wanted to know how many videographers you went with as well as the length of time? How did you find your end product with the amount you chose? Thankful for any feedback!

You can ask if they offer second shooters for partial day. If your only concern is full coverage of you and your future husband while in separate locations, then you technically only need the second shooter up until you two enter the ceremony.

But I will say, a second shooter is quite handy in capturing audience moments. Having worked with many videographers on other projects, they tell me something that gets overlooked from many couples is footage of their guests and how they're reacting to the events that unfold.

Ultimately, you should look at the portfolio if the potential vendor. If they pulled off a few amazing videos that suit your tastes and is what you want for your memories but using one shooter, you shouldn't write it off if it saves you money.

The price that was offered was for 1 videographer and that didn't go well with the end product since the music was way louder than DJs background music and bad editing. He wasn't worth it and felt at the end some of the money should have been returned. First choice was my best and lost him.

We had one with multiple cameras and she was able to capture most everything. The one thing we didn't get was both my husband and mine reactions when we first saw each other at the ceremony.

My gut says to get two as well! The videographers I've researched have packaged two videographers in their price...its just obviously more expensive than having just one. Maybe you can do the same so that both so that they can incorporate both footage into one

Hi! Thank you for your comment. I think 2 just makes sense to capture my fiance and I getting ready separately. I think I better follow my gut

We are looking at hiring 2! We are going to book are main videographer first, and maybe add the 2nd one closer to the day if we have more budget Smiley smile

We've always wanted 2 to get more angles, especially on the getting ready morning and ceremony

    Hi De Andra!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and welcome to the community!

We got a steal of a deal for our videography - they are friends my sister went to school with who are starting up their own business but have a few years of experience under their belt.

We're getting two videographers, all day long (our wedding is at 12:30 and reception isn't til 5:30 so we need them all day to capture it all from getting ready to the first dances). We're then getting all of the raw footage back, and a 30 minute wedding video.

Regardless of how our end product is, we'll be happy because we got a phenomenal deal. Worst comes to worst, as long as you have the raw footage you can get someone else to edit it after too.

I think in terms of length of time, it depends on what you want captured on video. Do you want your speeches and first dances captured? Then you likely need all day coverage. "All day" meaning if your ceremony is at 5pm and dinner at 6pm calculate how many hours you'd need them for from start to finish.

In terms of how many you need - i'll always say 2, because it provides multiple angles for the video.
