Venues not having a curfew of 11pm or midnight

Lisbeth, on August 15, 2018 at 15:46 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3

Hi.

We are a Scandinavian/Canadian couple planning a wedding in bc (Vancouver Island, Gulf islands or Victoria..). In Norway, as well as many other places in Europe, weddings seem to last far into the night (and sometimes even the early hours of the morning). We would like to have a similar style wedding as we love to keep on dancing way beyond the closing hours of most venues I have looked at so far. Does anyone know of any venues in the area around Victoria (or gulf islands) that are open later than midnight?

If we can't find any, what happens then at 11 pm when party is over? Afterparty in a pub? Any success stories? We have been to weddings where everything is over at 11 pm, the bride and groom leaves and the guests who wants to keep it going will have to find their next stop themselves. I find it is usually around 11 pm that the party is reaching its high point ;-)

Thanks for all suggestions!

This is my issue too! I am in Ontario but of European background and everyone who is coming is used to partying until 2,3,4am. My hall says we have to end the party by 1am and clean up by 2am. If 1am is good I am positive you can find one but have no suggestions sorry :/

Banquet halls often allow you to stay until a liquor license would be allotted for, so maaaaybe 2am.... but honestly you're going to have a really rough time finding anywhere later than about 1am. I believe mine (on a university campus in Burnaby) is until 1am. Last call at 12.30am.

You can definitely just go for a venue you really like, and if you aren't allowed to have liquor past 11pm or midnight, then take whomever is left to a pub/bar for an "after party".

Because it's not as traditional to 'party into the night' for weddings, especially in Western Canada... it will be a narrowed choice for late night venues.

Perhaps look into what venues do a lot of Indian/Southeast Asian weddings? I used to bartend for them a lot, and we had many nights until 2am, sometimes til almost 3. It's very much a cultural thing to party until the bar literally legally has to shut down.

Our venue (sorry in toronto) keeps going u till 1am! So I know they exist! I have heard of people doing an after party though of going to a bar or club to keep the night going! That might be a better option for you to look into!
