Venue Question

Jillian, on July 10, 2018 at 12:19 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14

We sent our deposit for our venue 3 weeks ago, we got confirmation it was received.

How long did it take them to send you a receipt and confirmation that the date you picked is confirmed. Also, do they send you a timeline of meetings and important dates? This is a destination wedding in Ontario so I would like to know when we need to meet etc.

I feel like after 3 weeks, we should have gotten something. Am I over reacting? lol

We are the ones paying them for their services, nearly $25,00 just for the venue and catering.

You should be receiving a confirmation of some kind to know the deposit is paid on the date of.

The email should be sent the same day after payment has gone through at the venue.

I would just send a quick note to your venue, whoever it was that you were dealing with and ask if there is anything you need to know or do a this point.

We are also getting married far away from where we live and our day of coordinator was able to do everything over the phone and through email with us, so that we didn`t have to travel to them.

We went to our venue and paid 2 deposits so far so we received the receipt after we paid with our credit card. That is kind of strange that you haven't gotten anything.

I would call or email the venue and ask for an update on the status of your venue and for your receipt to make sure things are still set in place.

Also I am doing good something similar but from Saskatchewan. They won’t be reaching out to me until later in August for my October wedding. But the coordinator for the venue is prompt to respond when ever I have questions. So don’t be afraid to reach out to them. Just be understanding that right now is their busy season so they might not be available at a moments notice.

Well it’s peak wedding season so you might be best to send them an email and just ask to confirm they got it and the date.

Also, they won’t have a schedule and timeline for you just now because again it’s peak wedding season so they will be prioritizing the weddings happen now. Usually they won’t have much to do for you until the last month or so leading up to your day since you will need approximate numbers (and actual expected not invites numbers). So ask them when you would need to start looking at going down for a meeting.

I paid my deposit in person and have a receipt for it. Call and get that receipt for your date and payment tho! You can never be too cautious regarding deposits lol.

Totally understand! But for sure I feel it even more important than to get a signed contract from the venue and a receipt for the deposit with a date confirmation! Call them asap!

Unfortunately we live in Saskatchewan and our venue is in Ontario, going in person wasn't an option haha

I agree with this! I went in person too as it was such a big cost I went in and had the venue sign all copies of the contract with me, make me a copy of the contract and give me full copies of receipts and confirmations! I would follow up 100% and get SOMETHING in writing!

I paid my venue deposit in person. walked out with the receipt.

most vendors should have no more than a 3 day turn around for responding. unless you paid or sent something by mail.

I would be calling to follow up.

My venue sent the receipt and confirmation within a few hours of receiving the deposit (my mom called in with her credit card).

Our important dates were also all spelled out before in the contract and venue package. So I know when the balance is due, an estimated timeline of when we commit to times, venue visits, and our rehearsal.

We didn't fully book our rehearsal for another 4 months after (about 7 months out)... and aside from that, we know we have to e-mail our menu choice (doing a buffet) about 2 weeks prior to the wedding. Final guest count is due 72 hours before.

If you haven't received your receipt, or the important dates/due dates/information/ deadlines... I'd push again. Call, leave a voice mail, e-mail that you left a voicemail. It's their responsibility to provide receipt of payment ASAP.

We sent the contract with the deposit, and she did reach out and let us know she received both. However, I asked when we can expect a receipt twice and a general timeline of any appointments from now until "our requested date" and she completely ignored both questions.

Did you receive a receipt from your venue?

For my venue we didn't send money until after the contract was all signed; but we sent an etransfer directly after they confirmed that they got the contract by email. Once we sent the etransfer I asked that she confirmed that she had gotten it as well and it only took her a 24 hour turn around to let me know that she did in fact receive it and accept it. (Although because it was eTransfer I also got a notification by email that it was delivered.

If you sent a cheque by post service then I would give the week for it to get to them and add a couple days. After 2 weeks I would reach out, so if it has been 3 weeks then I would definitely make sure they got it by explaining that if they didn't then you can cancel the cheque and write a new one/ make sure you have the address correct.
