Vendors Contacting You during Covid-19

Catherine, on May 7, 2020 at 14:23 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
Hi,

Our wedding date is October 3 this year. So far none of our vendors have even contacted us. I do realize that there are weddings sooner than ours they maybe focused on.... But for folks with wedding dates into the fall- are your vendors already in contact with you? Or are you the one reaching out to them?

I initiated discussions with all of our vendors and we were able to hold an alternate date for October 2, 2021.

I think your wedding date is far out right now. i feel like vendors are dealing with it on a month by month basis

My wedding day of coordination informed me that vendors are not really reaching out to clients. They are also waiting for updates and if you don't reach out to them, they will likely touch base closer to your original planned date.

I have since emailed a few of my vendors and they have been really good at getting back to me and accommodating to my plan B ideas.

I had a September wedding (I postponed to 2021) I reached out to my vendors so I knew what my options were etc prior to having to make the decision to postpone

The vendors may have left their business office closed for now until they can respond to you and other couples when small offices/business open slowly.

Considering we're now in the process of lifting restrictions, I have a feeling most vendors will try to proceed as if things are good to go for anyone in the fall or later. And unless the government mandates certain restrictions, most vendors will unlikely initiate the conversation.

Reach out if you need concrete answers. We weren't reached out to for ours but we're also very late compared to most affected couples.

Our date is October 2 and I've just began to reach out to ours in the last week. I had planned to wait until July to decide and start new plans, but I caved and started early.

I would bet that they are occupied with the late Spring and Summer brides who are the most likely to need to change dates or gathering sizes more urgently. I've heard a few brides on here mention that their vendors are only contacting clients 2 months out so that they can get the earlier weddings handled before the later ones.
So don't worry yet! If it will ease your mind you can reach out to them and see how they are handling things, but don't panic if you don't get a speedy response. Our photographer got back to me a few days later, I'm still waiting on our venue.

I think it’s up to us to update them on what’s going on. I think the majority may be willing to work if weddings are still a go, since a lot work Independently and can social distance etc., that’s why they’re not reaching out or anything

Our venue reached out right away and our florist. But that's it. I figured they will be in touch a little closer to the date. Wedding is in September.

    Hello,

I'm in the same boat except our wedding is in December. We have a wedding planner who has reached out to a few of our vendors for us and our venue said that they are only looking at weddings 2 months in advance. Our other vendors have said that our wedding is too far off and that we should circle back a few months before the date but they are all planning to be good for December.

I don't think vendors are reaching out to fall/winter weddings to be honest because they are just super busy with spring/summer weddings.

You should reach out to them just to give them a nudge - most places are responding back if you reach out; I just don't think they are initiating the conversation due to being busy and not wanting to cause a panic.

I initiated all discussions with my vendors; nobody reached out to me. Luckily they were all pretty quick to respond and ultimately very accommodating.
