Vendor Musts

Erin, on September 25, 2020 at 20:27 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11
So I have hired a photographer for our big day and I plan on hiring a few other vendors. My question is what vendors are an absolute must have for you personally and why?

Venue being the biggest one as the main source of vendor. Other venders we had were photographer, videographer and DJ. Vendors for rentals were arranged for pick and drop off only. Local bakery delivered the cake as the trays and decor were dropped off the next day along with other items.

I think our venue was the biggest for us. We wanted everything all in one. Ceremony area, reception area, open bar, food and a place for everyone to sleep. We have enough people coming from out of town we wanted to make sure the day had an easy flow for them. DJ because I don't want to get married without a dance, hair and makeup because I'm not capable of doing that myself though after I booked a good friend of mine offered to do it, she will be doing my nails. Our officiant will be really important for us so we both feel comfortable. Cake, flowers and decorations will be done by us.

The must haves were my amazing photographers, florist and decor (I’m not creative at all and can’t DIY), make up and hair artist and our baker who is amazing!

My FH wanted videographer as well and I wasn’t exactly sold but I’m so glad we booked them!

Amelia, that's fantastic!! The venue I'm looking at also has on site catering, but they don't offer a cake baker so I have to do that still haha. For me personally I'm not going for hair and makeup as one of my bridesmaids is a pro hairdresser and makeup artist (luckily). I just had my first appointment with the seamstress and she was fantastic. Thanks so much for the comment love!!!

Hey Hank thanks so much I was thinking more or less outside the Covid situation. A normal wedding no pandemic putting a damper on things lol but I agree with your list of must haves.

The food was very important for us. Photographer, DJ, makeup artist, day of coordinator.

Photographer was at the top of our list.
Our venue caters, so we didn't technically have a caterer to choose.
Hair and makeup, seamstress, and baker have rounded out the rest of the list!

Are we talking normal wedding or covid wedding? That list significantly decreases with a covid wedding. For example, I would imagine a DJ is a must for most normal weddings but a reduced capacity wedding with no dancing allowed makes a DJ moot. And makeup is a bit iffy during covid.

In addition to photography, for us a coordinator is a must have. We want someone to keep us in check and make sure people are where they need to be and things run on schedule.

Catering is a must have. I feel like all events require some kind of food and beverage.

An officiant is a must have vendor in any scenario. You have to hire one to be legally married.

Amanda, that's amazing!!! We are still debating between 2 bakers for our cake, our officiant is the pastor from a local outreach I used to go to when I hit the lowest point in my life and he helped me back up then did the same a little while later for my fiance!!! He is a really amazing man And we adore him. I have decided to opt out of makeup as photography is a HUGE must for us. I am so glad you both got the things that made you happy on your special day. I wish you both all the love and happiness the world has to offer you both in the future!!! ❤❤

My fiance and I knew we wanted our cake to be done by one of the best bakers in the city. So we had booked her right away since we knew she would book up spots very quickly.

Also our Pastor was a must for us. We wanted someone who would do a really good job. We had picked ours who was recommended by our venue. He's had great reviews as well as when we were on the phone with him, he seemed like a great guy to marry us

And last one was Makeup. I wanted someone who knew what she was doing and could get me to look the way I wanted and to also be able to vibe with me and my MOH.
