Updo or Hair Down

Brenda, on January 26, 2020 at 21:39 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 10

I have a custom dress made with open back similar to the dress below. I wanted to have a braided half hair up/down with loose curl since I feel more comfortable with my hair down. At the same time, I do not want to hide the details of the dress at the back. So, I am considering to do an updo for the ceremony and remove the pins after to change to a half hair down for the reception, although I am worried if my hair will get ruined with the attempt. So I am going back and forth with the hairstyle and I am still indecisive.

Would any past bride share your experience or photos of your hair if you have successfully done this before?

I maybe a little too ambitious than I should I guess 😌 those advice on the Internet makes it sound so easy for the pins to be removed 😅

Wedding will be in fall so it should be ok to have my hair down. I guess Pinterest is not exactly helping in making decision cause I want everything! 😝 Thanks for the thought tho!

That’s a pretty dress! Yeah, I guess it won’t be as bad if I sweep my hair to one side 🙂

I am leaning towards around hair down too but I guess I have time to decide. So true about the pins tho! That’s a good point.

I'd pick one or the other. Based on all of the up-dos I've had for weddings, there are so many pins to take out, and it's usually full of hairspray. It takes a long time. And you'll still find pins the next day.

I'm like you - stuck between the up or down. I think I'm going to choose down because I like it better for pictures.

    This was my dress back:

And I did the side braid/curls

Still felt like my hair was down but it didn't get in the way of the details on the back of my dress Smiley smile

I'd wear it down, if like Amelia said, your hair isn't too long and covers all of your back. You'll still be able to see the details as well as feel more comfortable. I'd also take time of year into consideration too though and whether or not you'll be indoor or outdoor. Like if you're having an outdoor summer wedding, you might actually be more comfortable with your hair up and off your back and neck. Just something else to factor in 🙂

Having it up will show off the dress more, but if you're more comfortable wearing it down I would do that. You'll still want to be you and be comfortable on the day of.
Plus I share your worry that trying to change the hairstyle half way through the day might not work out.
Unless you have hair so long that you sit on it you should still be able to see a lot of the details.
