Unresponsive Vendors

LJ Hisey, on May 7, 2020 at 10:09 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5

Hi guys!

I am getting nervous. I sent 2 of my vendors, hair and make up services, emails late last week inquiring about next steps. My wedding isn;t going to look exactly as we planned.

Ideally I would still use their services for me and my mother, and MIL...but I'm not sure if they're comfortable, if they will be allowed to etc. I definitely won't be needing the volume of services I was originally planning.

I just sent an email inquiring about contract etc. Have any of your vendors made you pay the minimum service fee even though you had to cancel as per covid?

I am ok with them keeping my deposits...but there are "minimum service fees" written into their contracts. Any one had a scenario like this?

I think they should waive the minimum given whats going on. but i guess it depends on what your contract says

There is a time frame of how much deposit can be returned based on the contract. Inquire what they will do if you decide to cancel. The charges can be lowered if you don't get the 3 of you done. Hope the answer is understanding on their end.

Have you followed up? How did you pay them? If it's through credit card and they don't render the agreed upon service, you can call the credit card company and dispute the charge.

I emailed them both on Friday. Still haven’t heard anything. It’s making me anxious that they’re going to charge me all this money for no service. But there is nothing I can do I guess, I signed the contracts.

I hope I hear soon. Just invoking more anxiety than this all has already caused

So far our vendors have been great and haven't charged us anything extra.

I'm expecting a new quote from our photographer because we're keeping her for our reception (now in 2021) and adding the elopement which will be more hours than originally planned.
I would bring up the contract with them and see what they say. Some companies are hurting right now so they want more money while others are grateful for the business and not charging extra.
