Undecided!

Melanie, on February 16, 2022 at 18:37 Posted in Beauty 0 20
Hi beautiful brides! I am completely stuck and undecided on what I should do for my hair! I cannot decide for the life of me on if I want it down or an updo. I have attached some photos of some styles that I like, if I could get your opinions it would be greatly appreciated!

Both styles do look good. With the dress your wearing, it can depend with your hairstylist to recommend if the updo will enhance your look or the curls will give that natural look you have. I know my cousins have gone curly and some with updos based on their Indian sarees and style.

You will know what will work for you as your trial will come happen.

Definitely team updo! The only thing is that it looks like you have darker hair like me, so just be aware that the photos of people with lighter hair will not look like yours. Lighter hair shows texture much better than dark hair. If you also have thinner hair, you could consider temporary extensions that can be put in the day of the wedding - with dark, thinner hair that will often make the texture and volume of the undo shine much more!

I’m starting to feel convinced with the updo. My wedding is at the beginning of August, which is usually the hottest time of year in Alberta!

I feel like my hair isn’t long enough for a side ponytail hairstyle, at least for it to look nice haha. And thank you!! Yes it’s from Durand Bridal Smiley smile

I'm on team updo! Absolutely, both styles would look great with your dress, but I find that updos are more elegant, especially for weddings. And as others have said, will definitely be nice for the summer time heat.

I rarely wear my hair up so wanted to have it up on my wedding day to feel more fancy and special.

I am having the same dilemma!

I feel dress style may compliment down more or have you considered maybe a side ponytail? That way still somewhat up but will also have some hair in front to frame you.

Gorgeous dress! Is that Durand bridal?

Do you have a hair stylist picked for your day? You could always do a trail of it down and see how it holds up?

My girlfriend has the same issue with curls and hers actually held up pretty well throughout the day. They obviously fell a bit, it snowed that day, but she still had curls by end of the night. LOTS and LOTS of hairspray haha

Both styles are beautiful! and I love your dress!!! I think either or would look perfect and compliment your dress and you for sure.

If your hair doesn't stay in curls for long you could try what I do? I do this and my curls last for a whole day usually!. I use a bobby pin and after i curl a strand I wrap it in a circle the way the curls going & pin each curl to my head and then hair spray it till I finish curling my hair. Once its all pinned up I let them all down hair spray a bit again and good to go (I was told to do this by my hair dresser as my hair doesnt always stay curled either)

I love both styles but as you said you rarely wear it up so the updo may be an option that to do on your wedding? I would even suggest doing a trail of both options and see how you feel about them?

You could also do a pros and cons of both styles? that may help too Smiley shame

    Wow that is beautiful!!! 😍😍
I think I would do the updo, just so you can enjoy yourself and not be worrying about your curls falling out ! And honestly an updo with that dress would be beautiful because it will show off the the low back! Just my opinion ☺️

This is my dress! I feel like a down style would look better for sure. But as you said, my wedding is in August so it may be really hot

What’s your dress like! If you have a high neck or sleeves hair up would look nice and if you have a strapless or spaghetti strap dress hair down looks nice! In my opinion. The styles you’ve chosen are both beautiful so you can’t go wrong look wise!!

What helped me decide is seeing girls in my exact dress on Instagram and then looking at their jewelry and hair to see what I liked with the dress!
For example my dress is an essence of Australia so I went to their Instagram page and went to their tagged photos and looked at real brides not the models!
I ended up picking hair down style, but I like the volume look so I’m getting extensions but it’s pricey around 900 dollars. I had to be realistic that my hair won’t look like the photos I chose because I have thin hair, so keep your hair type in mind!
It also has to be something your comfortable in! Depending on your date if it’s really hot you may want your hair up

I'd try and see how your hair does with pin curls or rollers! That might help them stay better

I would definitely do an updo then. You'll worry about it less and if it's hot it's much nicer having your hair off your neck while wear a big dress! I find updos hold better than half styles too.

I very rarely wear it up, it’s just a tough choice because my hair doesn’t really hold curls for long, so I’m worried it won’t last the whole day

Do you normally wear your hair up or down? I almost always wear my hair in a pony tail so I'm going with an updo.
