Travel fees

Hi, everyone! Hope your planning is going well.


I have to decide ASAP if I want to move forward with my makeup artist (and also potentially for hair). She's really excellent. The only thing I'm concerned about is her prices are already quite high at about $120 for bridesmaid and $150 for bride (although I think she's very good, so it aligns with her skill level). That would just be for makeup and then hair would probably double that.
Additionally, the travel fee for 135km each way is $320 total. Is this normal?
I can't find many photos of the hair she does, but it seems good. How much "evidence" of their work do you look at before booking?
I certainly don't want to miss out on a good artist, but I know I should be sure as budgeting seems harder than it did originally! 😄

    Travel fees are pretty common with wedding vendors and they usually cover more than just mileage things like time on the road gas and sometimes even accommodation if its far It helps to ask for a clear breakdown so you know exactly whats included before booking.Have you checked whether your vendor charges a flat travel fee or if its based on distance? Its similar to booking a San Diego limo service for a wedding there usually a base rate plus extras depending on time and distance. I also came across a space where couples share how they managed these extra costs

    It seem reasonable. I'm being charged $45 travel fee

    For make up that seems to be the average price. That is what I am being charged and a $50 traveling fee since I will not be close.

    I'd say that's reasonable price. I paid 225 for my makeup and my moh paid 150 and that wasn't with any travel fees

    I should add, the fee also likely factors in the fact that she likely now can't take on other clients the same day.

    That is quite the distance, coupled with gas prices I'd say that's reasonable.
