Transportation for bridal party

Tabitha, on March 4, 2020 at 13:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11
Is it inappropriate to have the bridal party bring themselves to everything they’re a part of? i.e. ceremony, picture location and reception? Most of them have children so it makes sense for them to ride with their families. Is it also OK to have the GM, mostly single, to be our chauffeurs?

The bridal party can drive themselves if they have their family with them. It should be fair they get time to be together before the ceremony and everything else. We did the same as all our wedding party was local except for 1 and stayed at the venue.

I think its completely fine to have people drive themselves, especially when they have families of their own. For our wedding, we rented a SUV limo for the day because everything is being done on-location. I also don't really get along with my mother so it will be nice to have other people there to talk to.

Honestly though, it is your wedding so whatever works the best for you Smiley smile

I was a bridesmaid a few years ago and we realized that we wouldn't all fit in the bride's mom's vehicle once they had everything packed so a few of us piled into my car and drove ourselves to hair, makeup, the spot we got ready at and the wedding. Honestly it was nice to let the bride have some time with her mom and her sisters...and also escape their family drama for a few hours.

I don't think it's a big deal as long as they have a safe way to get home after potentially drinking at the reception. Even parents let loose sometimes! So you might need to pay for their overnight parking at your hotel.

We are not providing transport for anyone really. That being said my bridesmaid will be with me the night before/morning of so I suspect we will carpool for the 10 minute drive to the venue with someone. Same with the groomsmen. After that its up to them to get home and such.

I wouldn't ask any of them to drive us around necessarily though unless its a carpool situation.

For my wedding it was all at the same venue and we had cabins to sleep in - buuuuut, if I was in this situation:

I would say that it sounds reasonable for them to ride with their families where they can, but to ask the GM to chauffeur is a bit much. I know my DH would have wanted his GM to be able to drink with him on his wedding day so they shouldn't be driving at all. If somebody volunteers then for sure take them up on it, but otherwise I would say it would be best to see about getting a limo or something.
