Traditional or Twist: Throwing Rice?

Lynnie, on February 17, 2020 at 09:05 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 24

Will you exit your wedding in a traditional shower of rice? Or are you adding a fun new twist (or completely tossing out) this exit tradition??

We haven't exactly decided what we are going to do for this but I know we aren't doing rice! I'm told that it's harmful to birds and I'm not really for that. If we do end up tossing anything, it'd probably be flower petals. But, we're also not going anywhere after the reception. We're having it at a hotel and staying in their bridal suite, so I'm not sure exactly when they would be tossing petals! Maybe when we leave the ceremony to take pictures.

Passing on this tradition... we'll be getting married in an art gallery and I can see how this wouldn't go over very well with them. I think flower petals might be nice!

Skipping the rice. Our venue doesn't allow it.
I really don't think we are going to be doing a "big exit" and I'm okay with that.

We will have our guests throw flower petals instead. Our ceremony will be in a field on a farm, so we won鈥檛 have to worry about cleaning them up as the wind will take care of that for us

We decided not to do the traditional rice throwing. I am not a fan of the mess and I didn't want confetti or rice stuck in my hair lol

It'll be a twist of either not doing it or doing it with something different, if we can find something our venue would allow lol

We are not doing any sort of exit like that, and our venue does not allow it haha.

Passed. It seems it rarely done these days and other things are now replacing rice.

Skipped an exit completely. We had to clean up afterwards, and everyone else had left by the time we were ready to go

Not allowed to throw anything which is fine with me. My luck I'd end up with rice in my eye

I like the look of the tossing, but never would I throw rice. Instead, because one of our wedding colours is lavender and lavender will be part of the deco, we'll have little cups of dried lavender for people to throw

Absolutely skipping throwing anything. It's such a mess to clean up (off of yourself and the venue) that I've never wanted it.

Our venue won鈥檛 show anything to be thrown which is fine. I don鈥檛 want to have to fish anything out before pictures!

We won't have anything thrown. The venue has rules about what we can or can't throw since it's outside. We thought about leaf confetti but I'm worried it would get all stuck in my hair and be a nightmare to pluck out.
