Totally chic, or too much? - Live Entertainment

Joey, on November 5, 2018 at 08:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 17

Let's look back at some of the most luxurious and unique wedding trends in recent years and find out which our community thinks are totally chic, and which are just too much!

Caricaturists, magicians, card readers, fire dancers, and acrobats are just some of the options we've seen keeping guests entertained throughout cocktail hours and receptions. Are you hiring anyone to entertain your guests, or will you be the only star of the show?

Definitely too much for me but it could be fun as a guest.

It depends on the entertainment. I generally like this kind of stuff tho.

Still done as entertainment at most Indian weddings and any anniversaries. Its worth than nothing at all.

We debated a violinist for the ceremony/cocktail hour but that would be it. I find live bands always play TOO LOUD, and never the real music I'm into or can dance to. Some performances are okay but a bit too much (unless there is a cultural significance)

I think it's too much, unless like Jennifer said, it has cultural significance.

I wouldn't to do the full entertainment (like a magician or acrobat). if there was a cultural significance. a dance or band would be great.

I was just at a wedding that had a caricature artist. and it fit so well with their wedding (it was an outdoor/garden party). and it was nice because they were off to the side and not interrupting people. and it was a fun take away/favour.

Too much, the focus on the couple is lost at that point.

Too much for me. The point of a wedding is to celebrate the couple getting married

Some of them can be awesome, like I love preformances that are culturally significant because they mean something

I like a culturally appropriate dance or entertainment, but I think doing it for the sake of it is too much. It also depends on how long your wedding is, but our reception including dinner runs from 6 p.m. till 12:30, and includes: games, speeches, cake, dancing, a slideshow and a photobooth. i imagine my guests want to spend at least some of the night talking, and i already don't know when they'll have the time to do that.

I think this is way too over the top, unless you're having a themed wedding and the entertainment fits.

Umm, I find that sort of stuff a bit extra. It's not something I'd spend money on.

I have seen this at a couple weddings, but it depends on how it relates to the theme, or the bride and groom. Not for me.... way out of my budget, plus we would rather spend that money somewhere else.

It depends what you get and how much it relates to the bride and groom. Fire dancers? No thanks. Dancers in general - not for me. But a magician? Very childish = me and my FH!

This seems a little over the top to me but I would enjoy it at someone else's wedding 😉
