To those who opted to diy with faux flowers, was it significantly cheaper than real flowers?

Been going back and forth the pros and cons of doing real vs faux florals for our wedding.. wondering if all the effort to DIY the bouquets are worth it vs just to have it all done by a professional florist. Cost, time and effort to DIY, the overall look of the florals.. What are your thoughts? Smiley smile

DIY flowers are great for your personal touch of the concept if the weekends fit your time to do them. They can be different in colours and patterns of papers chosen or material. Cost wise, your looking at a huge saving putting back into your pocket.

The thought of going artificial could run you the same if you opted to rent paying less than real and not having to store it afterwards. This idea was done as my concept paying $11 for each set of a vase with white floral ball fake. The same place had money box too available for rent which was beautiful and simple.

Once you figure your budget and flower count per vase, get ideas of patterns/meterials you would like to put together of types to look cohesive.

I think my mom paid just over 3k for all my bouquets, wrist corsages for the women of the day (moms, grandmas, etc.), male corsages and table and event floral decor that we'll need the day of.

So I mean, yeah you're probably going to save a TON of money in comparison.

I just don't have the time/desire to do DIY florals, plus very limited space as well to store everything so going real was ideal for me - also don't think my mom would have let me do fake flowers.

If you've got the time and the space for DIY florals, and you like the look of them, definitely get the faux flowers. You'll definitely save some cash to put elsewhere in your budget Smiley smile

My mom vetoed fake florals (she didn't want things looking 'definitely fake') so I told her she could pay for a florist if she wanted us to have real flowers.

I would've done something non-floral (i.e. peacock fans) instead if my mom didn't push real flowers.

It for sure is if you sell them after? Not sure how much you save by going with artificial (my Baba bought ours and had a discount as she is a florist), but you can sell them after and make some if not most of that money back.

I also have been going back and forth on fake vs real as well. For my bouquets I'm definitely doing fake as my hayfever cant handle the real ones. However, I've been thinking about getting the costco real flowers for the tables. As long as the flowers aren't right in my face they should be fine. I've found a website that does the fake flower bouquets for you so no DIY time. The only thing I worry about is I think its US and I worry about custom costs. The costco flower bundles are all made up when they are sent also no DYI time but the price is fantastic.
