Tips on planning a kid friendly wedding

Kayla, on February 16, 2017 at 12:57 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hi, planning ahead, we have a tentative date, but alot to plan. We are having maybe 150 people give or take, and at least 20 of them are our nieces and nephews which range from 1 to 13 years old. Any tips on having a kid friendly wedding? We are very family oriented and it's I portent to us to have the kids there to share in our day.

A fort room is BRILLIANT. As a grown up I might feel interested to check it out!

We may get as many as 30 children currently 9 confirmed... I'm hoping to get my BFFs sister and maybe a friend to run the kids club... Our venue has an unused coat check area, where we will set up a "fort"... Pillows, blankets, books, paper, crayons, games, toys ect... I know the kids will spend alot of time dancing but thought it would be nice for them to have a break room... We will also be loading them up with favors at supper hopefully it will keep them occupied during the speeches, if not they have somewhere to go, lol.

About one third of our guests are kids mostly 12 and under so I am hiring two of my grade 9 students to take care of the kids area which will have toys, arts and crafts and some mats.

Our wedding is during easter weekend so the two students will hide easter eggs during the ceremony so we can do an Easter egg hunt afterwards for our guests while we do our photos.

Im also having about 150 guests with about 35 of them being kids (10 and under). My reception hall has a playground just outside, so im hoping that will help keep them entertained. But i think the kids will also help keep eachother entertained. We are having a DJ so I see a lot of kids on the dancefloor at my wedding. lol

I would suggest having some activites planned for them (games at the tables, or an area with colouring/ board games)....I'm terrible at kids, so what do I know!

Maybe if you have the budget you could hire a couple of caregivers to keep kids busy when they get antsy? It would allow kids to be there, have fun...and then have a person to wrangle them while their parents continue to enjoy the festivites.
