Tipping Vendors.

Rhiannon, on March 14, 2022 at 12:56 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14
Hey everyone !
Needing extra opinions on previous brides or brides getting married soon.

So I’m in the hair industry, and I know how tipping works usually. I’m very stumped on tipping photographer and DJ. We will be feeding our bartenders, DJ and photographer. And have a tip jar available for my friends mom who is our bartender.
Our photographer is just shy of $3000 which was already over our budget and to tip 15%-20% on top of that is going to be at least another $500-$600.
Just looking for advice from anyone that can offer some! I definitely don’t want to insult anyone by not tipping, but it’s also so expensive already 😂🥲

Also Google reviews are huge. Leave glowing reviews for those you were happy with - it's so greatly appreciated from what I hear (often this question is asked in local Facebook wedding groups and vendors pipe in).

I would tip your vendors who are employed by a company and not privately owned. Usually the owner of a company like a photographer have a set price for their own work so no need to give a tip on top. But do so if you wish if you feel like they have gone beyond your expectations

We didn't even tip our vendors as they recieved a Thank you card with a personal appreciation note written. You feel to give something of a token over cash, it works out to be appreciated too.

General rule of thumb - tip anyone who is an employee of a company and not the owner or anyone you feel that went above and beyond your expectations. Tip service staff IF gratuity is not already included in your bill.

I wouldn't tip a photographer unless the photographer is an employee of a photography company. Most photographers run their own business and get to set their own prices.

I'm not tipping anyone except our makeup/hair stylist and the venue tip that goes to service staff (waiters and bartenders).
