Are you supposed to tip your band, photographer etc?

Jamie Wolfer had an entire youtube video on this topic that I found extremely helpful. Look her up!

I've been told that if they own the business you do not need to tip as they set the prices. If they are an employee or have staff that don't own the business you should tip.

Honestly it's up to you, if they went above and beyond and you want to thank them with a tip then go for it. Our photographer has been awesome and I intend to give her a thank you gift that is a little more personal than cash.

I also agree with Gloria. The other thing to check is your contract/quote because sometimes they have already added it in. I know the gratuity for our limo and the hair stylists are already included in the contract.

I'm with Gloria on this. If they are their own company (so like an officiant or DJ) then they set their own prices so tips aren't needed. If it's like a food service then it's nice to tip the servers just like you would a waitress at a restaurant.

We didn't do it by % though, we just tipped servers like $20/each, bartenders $50/each, officiant - even though he set his own prices - tipped him for doing a great job even in the POURING rain outside Smiley tongue We just tipped with cash from the presentation we got and tipped according to how we felt they did.

Honestly depends ... if they set their own prices I’d probably say no. I just find it kinda ridiculous that you’re expected to tip on top of the prices that they already charge for weddings 🤦🏻‍♀️

Direct vendors are paid up front deposit and at the venue/before the day. Extras brought, then yes it seems fair to give unless specified in the contract.
