Tipping

Alexandria, on September 25, 2019 at 07:27 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
I've been here mixed results on tipping vendors. I just wanted to know the proper protocol. I've heard if they own their own business you dont, is this true? I've also heard if your paying for their dinner you dont, but to me that doesnt seem fair as they are working all day for you. What about 2nd photographer and apprentice dj (which I just found out about he was coming so hes not getting a meal- my wedding is in 8 days)

I didn't tip any vendors as their services were paid as their meals too. Their contracts verify this information when given. Venue had the gratuity charge included in the cost to avoid giving a tip on top.
Tipping is your call to know if you feel they do get it or not and how much based in your decision. Everyone will be different in every situation.

Check your contracts, some vendors put the tip right into their pricing. My venue includes tip for all the staff that are present there.

I am just planning on tipping our photographer if they don't stay for dinner. The other vendors I am planning on getting them little gifts (little wine bottles and a card for my hair stylist)

We got married in a church that was by donation so we literally chose what we paid him. I don't think something like an officiant would get a tip.

No worries! My fiancé and I have both worked in the service industry so we really appreciate service people and are happy to tip for good service.

im not religious so I’m not tipping my priest, my FH might but I don’t know.

Some people on here go by the “if they own the business” you don’t but I don’t believe in that. If someone’s providing excellent services to me, I’m tipping them.

Bartenders, waitstaff, DJ, photographers, videographers, hair and make up team will all get tipped. I’m paying for the DJ, photographers and videographers meals as well.
