What is your timeline look for your reception? I'm not too sure when I should do father daughter dance, mother son dance & and first dance.

Hi Karen! We kind of wanted to knock out all the dances quickly and get to the party portion of the night - so we did our first dance right away after we entered the reception, and the father/daughter dance during dinner!

There are some great reception timeline tips in this article too: Wedding Reception Timeline

That's what I'm scared that guest will get bored because of so much dancing.

I totally get what you mean. I think what Jessica posted is perfect tbh. Spread it out so people don't get bored!

We are splitting things up as much as possible and our having a 4 course sit down meal.

So we'll be introduced to the reception (our Bridal party isn't doing an entrance)

Immediately go into our first dance.

My dad will then do a speech/toast.

    First course will be served.

    Groomsmen doing a speech.

    Second Course will be served.

    Bridesmaids doing a speech.

    Main Course will be served.

Groom's mom is doing a speech.

    Dessert Course will be served.

    Bride/Groom thank you speech.

    Father/Daughter Dance.

    Followed by the Mother/Son Dance.

Then the dance floor opens for a party!!!

I did our first dance as soon as we were introduced at the reception, so we did our grand entrance and then went right to the dance floor and did our dance before dinner.

After the speeches and right before the dancing starting for the evening is when we did the father/daughter and mother/son dance as one, and then we invited couples out on the dance floor to join us throughout the song.

I've also been to wedding where all the dances, including the first dane are after the dinner, it is just nice to spread them out so people aren't watching dances forever.

I think I want it to be dedicated to each dances as I feel like guest will feel bored watching dance after dance.

Do you want a dedicated mother/son and father/daughter dance or would you be open to doing them simotaneously? I think the first dance usually happens pre-dinner and the other dances after dinner.
