Time of hair appointment for evening wedding

Erin, on March 5, 2019 at 14:59 Posted in Beauty 0 11
Hi there, so my ceremony does not start until 7pm, what time would you schedule your hair appointment for since most salons close at 4 in the afternoon on Saturdays? Would you do it first thing or later on in the afternoon?

Like most people have said, it depends. I’m having my hair and makeup done with my bridesmaids and since we only have 1 makeup artist and 1 stylist for 6 people, we are going to be there for about 6 hours... I would book for the latest time possible that still lets you have enough time for everything you want.

Honestly, an intermediate stylist can do just as good a job (if not better) than a master stylist. As a bride though it would just come down to what you feel most comfortable with. Book in for a trial, see how they do and bring in some picture references. If you’re on a tight budget for your wedding I would recommend going intermediate, if budget isn’t an issue and you would feel more comfortable with someone with more years of experience go with the master stylist. Hope this helps!

Hi Geoff, so I don't have a regular stylist and the salon I was looking at has both master and intermediate stylist, I am firm believer in providing people with opportunities to learn and master their craft, in your opinion should I stick with a master stylist in this occasion or go with an intermediate one?

Have you looked into freelance hair stylists? That way you can have you hair done at whatever time suits you best!

I wouldn't do it first thing, but definitely by 1 or 2pm. The stylists need time to get things right. And if they finish by 4, you'll only have a couple of hours to wait before the ceremony.

I’m a hairstylist and I honestly prefer lots of time to do wedding updos. I usually prefer to have around an hour and a half to two hours. When we book wedding parties at my salon we tend to book them before noon even when the wedding is in the evening.

If they aren't able to accommodate time-wise I would go for an appointment at 2PM so that they have a good amount of time to do your hair as well as they won't feel rushed and you won't feel bad if they go over the time.

Pictures are after the ceremony. We have a very small wedding party, my sister is my maid of honour and he just has his best man.

Are you doing pictures before the ceremony or after?

I would do it early afternoon. This way you are not rushing, and the hair stylist isn't rushing around and wanting to go home at the end of the day!
