This is only the beginning 🙃

So we have just started planning our wedding for next summer. We are having it in his home town and I love the idea of being close to his family. The problem I’m having is that he keeps pushing the idea of the town hall on me ( it’s super out dated). Atmosphere is such a big component to me . My heart was set on a tent wedding with lots of lights and a super romantic feel. He’s convinced we can have the same look in the hall but I just don’t think that is possible .
Has anyone ever worked miracles on a small town hall and made it look like the venue of their dreams ?

You can add a ton of decor to make it nice. remmeber everything is just a space. you can also add hanging decor from the ceiling like a white sheet with lights to add that tenty feel. BUT decor is expensive so it might be cheaper to rent a tent. shop around

I think with lots of draping and the twinkle lights you can hide any of the outdated-ness of the building.

Is it safe to assume that it's a really good deal to rent as opposed to renting a tent, flooring, generators, and everything else? If so you can reallocate the budget into decorations to make it look like your deean. And super bonus for the flowers!!

Unfortunately it doesn’t ! It’s in a gravel parking lot. My saving grace is my future mother in-law owns a flower shop and has promised to deck the hall out (along with the entrance to the hall)

Does the town hall have an outdoor area? Like a little garden or green-space that you could create a little hangout areas with lights or a tent? I think you can absolutely make the inside of the hall look amazing but that might be a way to keep some of your design aspects intact while also pleasing your FH.

We used a venue that fit our needs - but with enough bolts of fabric I'm sure you could cover the walls entirely and make it feel romantic with string lights!!
