The guys wardrobe

Candace, on July 14, 2018 at 18:09 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 20
So, I'm having an issue with the guys being typical guys...
some of our groomsmen have black suits, but not all of them do. So my fiancé and I figured all the guys would rent suits so that they would all match because let's face it, the bridesmaids can mix and match but the groomsmen don't often. Would it look bad if they have mix matched suits? I've never seen a photo with different suits for the groomsman and I'm worried that if they are being stubborn about it then I'm going to cave and then our group photos will look off

When the girls are mixed matched they usually have a cohesive look that ties them all together whether it be the color or the style of dress or a defining feature in the dress with the men I find if they're in different things they all just look like guests at the wedding not like an official bridal party

Mix mach is not a good idea for the guys, my frd's groomsmen did that and it's was out of place. I personally think renting suits is expensive, we kind of shopped around for suit rentals, then the guys ended up buying their suits on sale from The Bay for the same amount it would cost them to rent it.

My fiance is having a charcoal suit and the boys are all renting matching lighter grey suits. I dont think all the ggroomsmen need to match, but they should definitely stay in the same color family to avoid distraction!

We are having him wear a different colour tie and having a bigger boutonniere, but that's all I got to make him stand out so far

That was my thinking exactly but it seems to stress my fiancé out when I mention asking them to rent suits that match

At the end of the day it is your wedding and personally I don’t think your FH’s groomsman should be giving you guys a hard time about renting outfits.
I don’t mind the mix matched suits as long as there all different colours. All blacks that don’t match can look off, but I’m very OCD about things like that.

My FH is wearing a custom 3 piece suit in a med grey and his groomsman are just wearing the matching med grey pants with white shirts and suspenders. We’re also considering my FH to wear a bow tie and the guys in ties. I wanted the groomsman all in different purple ties but we were unable to find 4 different ones that we liked.

I think renting is a is a great idea and it’s very inexpensive, the groomsman will live. Just don’t cave it’s your wedding!

I hate it when the groom blends in with his party! Meanwhile everyone knows who the bride is with the white dress and all. Still trying to figure out how to make my FH stand out lol

Thanks, and well now thinking about it I want to make my groom stand out and so I have to pick a colour of tie for him to wear. Just not sure which colour. I feel some days I’m doing like 90% of the planning and it’s driving me crazy lol

Here is my bridezilla moment for you. It's your and your FH's wedding. You pick what you want and stick to it, and if anyone in the bridal party pushes back, tell them they dont have to be a part of it. Trust me, they will cave before you ever should.
I want my groom in a different colour than the groomsmen. I hate when you cant tell who the groom is. However, we are doing rental tuxedos, with my groom buying his, but they are all the same style. shape, buttons, pieces, etc. But the groomsmen are in all black, and my fiance is in a dark navy tux w black lapels.
I think if all the groomsmen are a bit different, unless your groom is REALLY different, he will blend in.
I say stick to your guns, decide what look you want with your husband, and make it final.

Hey Maya, I would just double check how long wherever you're getting the suits recommends. Our place only suggests securing the rentals 2-3 months out... 4.5 is plenty of time. It's not really like women's stuff that takes 3+ months to come in, plus 1-2 months for extras and alterations...

I really like the idea of mixed color, but it’s still got to be all greys, all blues or just everyone wearing black. If you have a blue, a grey and a black it might look a bit too off!

It would only really work if the ones that were different matched the one that doesnt match IMO. I like things to be matching but i have seen mismatched suits before and it has looked good.

Mix match suits are not as bad as you look at it.

We planned it to each side of our wedding party wear matching colours. Husband's side wore purple and my side wore blue/teal. The Best Man(s) wore shirts and ties to the MOH sari.

Ouuuu, I kinda like the mix match look on the groomsmen. What is nice for the audience to know they are part of the bridal party is the boutinneers.

Ask them all to bring the suits over and have them try them all on together. No one will be paying that close attention to them so if they're close enough you can probably get away with out having to rent new suits.

I think mismatched suits work if it’s the groomsmen are in the same suit and then the groom is in a different colour to make them stand out. We are waiting until end of August to get men’s suits. That means 4.5 months until the wedding. Do you think that’s too late? I’m just waiting until then so the guy my fiancé wants as a best man can make an effort to meet me. He always refused and has met me once in 2 years and if he doesn’t commit to getting to know us as a couple I refuse to have him in the wedding party as he can’t speak about who we are as a couple.

Personally I like the look of the mismatched suits. Plus, then everyone is comfortable in what they have on.
