The dress

How was everyone’s experience with
Dresses? I found a dress I loved and was positive I would buy it but ended up buying something else that I’m not 100% sold on.

    Unfortunately I don’t think so..

happy ending though, luckily my mom is fantastic at sewing... she didn’t want to make my dress because a wedding dress is such a big commitment, but she is now going to help redesign the dress I bought into something I love. And as a backup, she is going to make me a dress similar to the first one I fell in love with. (Very simple and cost less than $100 to make)

Hard to say. To be honest both dresses are under $400 after taxes and my mom is doing the alterations.

I was deciding between two dresses after I went shopping with my entourage - I loved one and they loved another. Ultimately I went back alone to try on the one that I loved again and that decided it for me. The one that I went with felt more like me than the other and my family understood that but I totally get why pressure from the entourage can be so confusing.

I had some second thoughts. I had narrowedy choices down to two dresses, a fitted on under budget and an aline one that was over budget.
I got the dress I could afford and for about 2 weeks I kept having that "what have I done, I can't return this" moment. I kept loot at photos of me in both and I loved both dresses (I still do) but as I thought about our wedding and the venue and the feel that I want it to have I realized the dress I bought is definitely the right one.
Putting it on again definitely helped. Because o bought a sample dress it needed a few things fixed so I booked a seamstress super early. Getting to wear the dress again really showed me I made the right decision. If you decide you want to change your mind, can you afford to take the loss on the dress you bought? Maybe you can sell it to another bride and make a little back, but odds are you'll lose money. If that's not an issue I would try others and bring it with you if you can. You might find another or realize you love this one!

I worked at a bridal salon for 5 years and tired on hundreds of dresses for fun and for product knowledge we encouraged it.

I was 100% convinced I would purchase a mermaid, a specific one that I was in love with for several years. Nothing beat it ever - new stuff came in and I still loved this one.
Until I randomly saw the Remington Gown by Hayley Paige on Instagram and my heart instantly shifted and wanted that gown. I had an appointment to try it on ( at a different store and was like 100% gonna buy it despite the price tag) but the week before that apt I got a preview of a new dress coming to my store and it had all the same vibes.
So I cancelled my appointment and placed an order at my store based on this preview then waited 23 weeks for it to come in. Of course with my discount it was a HUGE savings compared to what I would have spent on the Hayley Paige dress.
I just called my mom and texted my future mother in law “hey not going dress shopping I bought something” and they were supportive. Both were a little said they didn’t get the “EXPERIENCE” but I never let that bother me too much. This is well within my personality to do things like this ( Ive purchased glasses before by only seeing measurements of the frame and the color name)
I ended up leaving for a new job before my order arrived. So I had a moment of ... omg I can’t exchange it now or get my discount on another dress if I hate it?
When it did arrive most of the staff had never even seen it before so I went in to try it on and it was absolutely freaking perfect and I got to see all my lovely coworkers.
It’s Aline with long sleeves and blush pink with a sweep train. The COMPLETE opposite the nude and ivory strapless sweetheart with an organize scroll mermaid bottom I had loved for years.

Honestly, that's why I didn't go actual dress shopping to stores or boutiques because my grandma is the kind of person that pushes her opinions and I more often than not cave even if I'm not all that happy. But I refused to let that happen where my wedding dress was concerned so I got mine online so there was no outside pressure.
Is there anyway you can exchange the one you bought for the first one you loved? Or maybe you can ask a seamstress to add or take away some elements from your current dress to suit your taste better? I just don't know if that would cost more than you paid for the dress

I felt a lot of pressure to buy it. It didn’t cost much. $367 after tax. My sisters were with me and really pushed me toward it. I do like it a lot but there are a lot of elements I’m not I love with.

What made you buy the one you did?
I felt similar after I bought my dress, but I think it was because I hadn't looked at/put it on in awhile. Once I did I remembered why I bought it and what made me fall in love with it in the first place.
