Whether you have a prior commitment or are just plain tired, sometimes you need to leave a wedding reception before the final send-off! Which of these reception moments is also a sign that you can leave afterward?

    I would say B. After the first dance but now adays people would leave after last call but thats more for the younger crowd

    Traditionally it's the cake cutting... most people do their first dances quite early, cake cutting is the signal for "nothing else of importance is happening now"...

    Anyone who leaves earlier than that, like the first dance, misses all the speeches, games, beginning of dancing, etc...

    They suggest you don't do the cake cutting too late due to older guests who want to leave. If you're not doing one, maybe have the last speech mention something about dessert being served, and now it's time to dance or whatever...

    B - the first dance.

    Funny story: an old aunt at a wedding was waiting for the couple to cut the cake to leave....the couple did not have a cake or cutting of any kind. She wasn't pleased.

    First dance unless there isn't a dance then i would say speeches.

    Usually i woll wait till after first dance to leave a wedding... But it also depends on the order of events... Thats assuming the dance is after dinner and speeches.
