Test Time! Gift-giving at engagement parties...

A. People do bring gifts but it isn't expected. At least my fiance and I weren't expecting any

I would say false. It is not expected, or tradition to bring anything. People sometimes bring small gifts, but there's no expectation or registry.

B - It's a celebration, not a shower.

I have never been to an engagement party before, but if I did I would probably bring a small gift, so... A!

They are definitely not expected, but I've never been to one where people came without them.

B - false. Engagement parties are to celebrate the event and upcoming nuptials.

A--true. I hadn't heard of engagement parties for years, and then someone wanted to throw my friend one so she could get more gifts...

Gifts should not requested by the bride and groom (we didn't) but we had a lot of people give gifts even though we told them we weren't asking for any. so yes it can be.

I'm going with false. I've never heard of gifts being given at the engagement party.

I would say false, that's what we had at our engagement party. people brought a mixture of gifts and cards!
