Tell us about (or show us!) your proposal!

My finace and I were in California visiting my family, which was during our two year anniversary. He had planned to propose to me at the Fourth of July fireworks at Disneyland, unknown to me. When he suggested going I said I was too tired from the trip and didn't get to see my family very much so I wanted to stay there. We then went on a walk and he proposed to me at a park. I was so excited I somehow flung my hands up and sent the ring flying into the road...ooops. We found the ring, and I said yes!

For at least a year (probably two) before he proposed I kept bugging him asking when we were going to get married. We have been together for 6 years and have kids so I figured it was about time! After so long of bringing it up, I eventually gave up on him ever proposing. A couple months later on Dec. 26 it was the one year anniversary of us loosing our twin sons to late Mc and he asked to go for a walk to the pinnacles (the top of a mountain overlooking "hoodoos") which is a special place for us, so I said yes. When we got to the top where the outlook is I turned to take a picture of our twin daughters and when I turned back he was on one knee. All I could say is "seriously?" repeatedly. I probably would have started crying if it wasn't-32° c !

I was very surprised when he proposed because for the past couple of months prior every time I would bring up the thought of a wedding he would say "nah , who says we are getting married?" He thought I knew about the ring he purchased from my friend who works in a jewellery store. We were playing a round of Dinosaur Mini golf and he went to pick up the golf balls and then pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. We were inside a dark volcano so I didn't see the ring at first and I thought he was joking. I asked him numerous times if he was kidding and eventually I believed him and I said Yes!

I knew he was going to propose soon and I had a good feeling it would happen that weekend (he told me to buy a new dress and get my nails done). He took me for a walk in the park, and then we sat down on a bench. He handed me a present (which I had not noticed he had been carrying). Inside was a book and when I opened the cover I saw a little heart-shaped compartment carved into the pages and the ring tied in with a ribbon. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

We were going on vacation (we typically go down south once or twice a year), I had NO idea he was planning to propose when we were there. My FSIL, who was with us, even asked me before we left if I thought he might do it when we were away, and my response was "absolute no chance, there is no way he could be planning something and I wouldn't know about it". He isn't the greatest at keeping secrets, but he totally pulled this one off. He waited until our third day, we all went for a walk before dinner and were taking pictures by the beach and he pointed out how nice the sunset looked so I turned to look at it and when I turned back around to him, he was on one knee. I of course started crying and was in pure shock. My FSIL and FBIL were both there and thankfully captured the moment for us. It was perfect ♥

Proposal

My FH and I talked about marriage for about 4 out of the 6 years we were dating. Both of us said, "I'm not in any hurry". We are older (58 and 59) and have been through some difficult relationships so we were cautious. One day he asked me to book off a weekend before Christmas to go to Niagara Falls. We had a room that overlooked both of the falls and were getting ready to go for dinner. He asked me what I was doing for the next 30 years and I said that I thought I might spend them with him. Then he popped out the ring and almost gave this ol' girl a heart attack! I was so surprised that he actually planned something as he is notorious for flying by the seat of his pants. So here we are, 8 months later and getting ready to be married in 44 days.

We had talked about getting married but nothing more than that. He gave me a card on Christmas morning that led to a treasure hunt through our apartment and when I found the last clue I was facing a corner. The clue was cryptic and when I turned around to ask what was going on, he was on one knee in our living room with the ring in the box!! Super sweet and then of course I cried. Merry Christmas to us!!

We had been planning our wedding for a few months before we got engaged so I knew it was coming but i just didn't know when or how he would do it. We went to Toronto the week before he proposed to pick up the ring (his brother's friend owns a jewelery store there so we got a good deal).
Exactly one week after, on our 6 year 7 monthaversary (lol) he proposed. We went to Pumpkinferno at Upper Canada Village and he did it under a fairylight covered bridge with hundreds of lit up pumpkins hanging around us. We took a few pictures then I went to walk away and he pulled me back and I saw him pull out the ring box and I almost passed out lol. I just kept saying "are you freaking serious?!!"
He used the lyrics of one of our favourite songs to propose (Forever and Always by Parachute) and I died. His parents popped out and were there taking pictures and video and I didn't even notice. I was impressed he managed to surprise me despite me knowing the proposal was coming!
