Table #s/alternatives

Victoria, on December 18, 2017 at 00:41 Posted in Wedding reception 0 32

What is everyone doing for table numbers!

I've seen some weddings where the tables were each a different destination that is special to the couple. Has anyone heard of any other ideas? Im thinking I want to do something different.

I saw this one wedding on Pinterest where each table was a different movie and each movie was one the couple saw together via play or in theatres, the guests were to dress up as someone from the movie of the table they were seated at. Another one I saw was different board games at each table and each table cloth was a giant version of the game board, it looked pretty neat.
Depends how much detail you want per table

Love this idea. We thought about doing growlers but it doesn't really work with our venue.

Me neither. I just usually (and luckily) end up at the table closest to the bar.

A folded plain sign is what we did to keep our theme consistent.

Right!! hahaha if we can't get our model boats to our location without risk of damage we will use pictures of all our animals. It created such a great talking point and entertainment when you first walked into their venue to see some hilarious cat photos!!

What's your venue? It could be a fun subtle way of incorporating your passion into the decor.

Friends of ours, big math nerds, did greek letters. I've also seen flower names, cities/countries the couple visited, months of the year, ... many of my friends were quite creative apparently, now that I look at that list lol

One of my friends did pictures of their cats to label the tables, which was great and there were some hilarious pictures! I am planning on using differently model boats that were my fiance's grandfathers, so we will use pictures of the boats for the seating chart and people will have to find their boat.

Our tables were named after different empty craft beer bottles we had lying around.

    Some weddings I've been to:

Song names, and then the DJ played those songs and when you heard it play, you got to go up for food. My cousin also had song names and their favour was a CD with those songs on it.

Resistor colours (each table had vases with coloured ribbon in a certain order, and you had to find your colours)

Bird names (groom went bird watching often)

We might do holidays (we are doing a "year of firsts" for our table, where each table can write down traditions or date ideas or words of wisdom and we will read them on that holiday)

My girlfriend did places from her favourtie books and it was such a nice touch. Plus it was a great ice breaker to get people at the table talking!

I think you could change it up depending what you're interested in! If you're big travellers, each table could be a destination like you said. If you're big readers, each table could be a classic book title. They could each be a different song, a different board game, a different kind of wine, a different city you've visited together, etc! Have fun with it Smiley smile

Our idea was behing the gay colours of the flag as each table number was indicated. Water beads were the colours in the vases.

You can do song names that are special to you and your FH. That’s how my FH and I were going to do it (We decided to go worth no seating plan). And then for dinner (buffet style), we were going to have all of the songs on a playlist and hit shuffle and whichever song played was the table that got to go and get their food.

I like that kind of idea. I've seen that sometimes people get offended if they are at a high number table, makes them feel "less important". This way instead of numbering the table and having someone possibly complain about being at 18-20, they have some special meaning to their table! Very cute idea!
