Caitlin, on September 8, 2019 at 09:57 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
Hey all.

Anyone else planning or have a super small wedding? We're just starting our planning process and are looking for some ideas for venues and any great small wedding resources.

Any suggestions?

Elopement packages are becoming popular now. I’m not sure if there are any venues near you that are offering them but they tend to be all inclusive and are geared for small affairs.

Restaurants may be an option that will take a reservation for your number of reception of that number. Nothing more is needed as you can decide to have your guests pay for themselves or treat them to dinner on you.

Oh the budget isn't an issue. And there are only 25 guests at a max.

Just looking for small venue suggestions to see if there is something I haven't considered.

Budgeting is the one key word that helps you keep on track to know your not getting anything beyond your means. Consider what you may want and explore the costs of what is most important to least important starting that direction. Vendors on the top of the list are:

    Photographer

    Videographer

    DJ

    Hairstylist/Make-up (optional based on quotes)

Vendors that will be the bottom least as non-optional if chosen to go for quotes based:

    Florist

    Day of Coordinator/Wedding planner

I had a lot of resources that helped in putting the costs in peace of mind without having to take much home. Guest list will help to determine where you start with your count and budget in order to know what is your goal and then set on how you envision your details. A vision board may help to put colours and touches together as well.

Rentals was the best way i looked at half price vs. purchasse pricing at retail stores which no one takes home anymore at receptions. This way it was paid for and taken back the next day with no hassle of storing at home. The items rented were vases, white floral balls and white gemmed money box. Big time savings i will say.

Online Shopping was another thing that was a huge savings when ordering small items even in bulk/lot. When thinking of what you don't get out there, amazon and ebay have them readily availalbe for shipping out. The best thing is that you can get refunds due to not being satisfied with the product when you receive it and keep it for free.

Actual Purchases will be your dress based on your mother wanting to pay for it as a gift or how much you set to put towards the cost. You feel its not someting to keep after the day and want to key low cost, seek rental stores that will help you out this route. Favours to consider may be edible or packaged not being left behind to add on to your packing for home.

I second the resteraunt suggestion. A lot of them will waive a venue fee if you spend a certain amount on food and drink, which is great if you are working with a budget.
I also started looking at event/banquet halls as I was set on a separate space for the ceremony but didn't want to pay extra to rent a garden space from the city, so I found a hall with separate areas for both. You could also google pop-up/micro weddings in your area, they do all the planning so you just show up and enjoy, but they tend to be a bit pricier Smiley smile

That sounds beautiful! We definitely want something nice and simple. We don't have many people who are important to us so we are around 20 people. A restaurant is a great idea! I'll have to look into that!

We had a super small wedding.
It was supposed to be an elopement with us and our kids. We ended up inviting our immediate families so there were 9 of us total.
A really small wedding offers lots of flexibility for venues. We had our ceremony at a beautiful garden in a park and then rented a restaurant's private dining room for dinner. We also had our wedding on a Wednesday, which is do-able if you only want those closest to you to come (and saves lots of money).
I saw our wedding as am intimate celebration during which we happened to get married. Reframing it as that really opened up a lot of options for us, rather than restricting ourselves to things intended for weddings.
