Styling An Illusion Neckline / a Line Dress

Corinne, on March 2, 2020 at 19:43 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 7
Hi all,

I have an illusion neckline dress and I’m looking for inspiration for hairstyles, veil, jewelry, etc. Also, I will be wearing glasses. 😍
Thanks in advance all!

I'm always an updo kinda gal. I think theres so few times in life that really call for one, so a wedding updo is just .. I LOVE IT lol

With glasses, i think just gently swept back always always looks beautiful. and with an illusion neckline could really bring attention to the details if it's up and out of the way. And if you have fun glasses, then that's an extra bonus Smiley smile

You'll have to consider what you're comfortable with, the weather (yes.. this is a factor! no one likes being frizzy...), your veil, what you want to show off or hide.. etc.

Here's my go to chart for what type would look best:

Since it's a plunging sweetheart I would say to either go with half up/ half down, or all down.

It sounds so pretty!!!! Mine has lace around and buttons up the back so I’m good with the back being covered and not? I just don’t want to be too hot and regret having it down lol.

My shower is July 12 and I’m doing my trial that day so we’re going to try some different stuff out to see what I like the most. 😊

If you've got beading on the illusion you probably just want earrings and maybe a little bracelet (so many photos of your hands, why not draw some extra attention!)

I'm with you on the hair, my dress is backless so part of my wants it up but I love the romance of half up half down. I'm going to a pop up sale for accessories at the end of the month and I might let the type of hair accessories I find decide for me.
Long veils make for gorgeous photos, you can both be under it, you can let the wind (or pretend wind that's actually bridesmaids) move it. I like the idea of mirroring the lace from the dress on the veil. And this is the one time we can really be over the top so go for it!

It has lace & beading along the top so a necklace wouldn’t be visible. Without illusion it’s a plunging sweetheart that has more lace/beading detail and gradually fails into the skirt with a medium train?

I kind of want a cathedral train just for the sake of being over the top haha but when I go for my first fitting I’m going to try a few veil styles. I think I want lace on the bottom to mirror the detailing on top of the dress.
I have long hair so I’m torn between an updo for the simplicity of a September 12th wedding and the heat but I am also loving half up/down and curled so this is where I’m struggling the most I think.

What is the shape of the neckline if the illusion wasn't there? Sweetheart, scoop, plunging? Depending on what that is you can pick a necklace or skip a necklace in favor of fancier earrings.

Does your dress have a long train? I personally prefer a fingertip veil but if you have a long train a longer chapel or cathedral veil might make more sense. Do you want bling or lace on your veil or do you want the details of the dress to stand out against a simple veil? (Either way I've found a bunch on Etsy I love that are more budget friendly than buying from a bridal shop)
Is there a lot of detail on the back that you want to show off by wearing your hair up? Or that you might not want to cover with a veil.
