Style Showdown: Round or Rectangle?

Lynnie, on December 10, 2018 at 09:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 72

Final question!! How is your reception space shaping up? Do you like the look of classic round tables at the reception, or are you all-in on long rectangular tables? Which table style gets your vote?

I absolutely love the long rectangular tables but our venue has the round ones that I think will be better for conversations anyway.

I like round because everyone is able to talk to everyone at the table at ease. The other pros to going with a round is that if you have a last minute person you need to fit somewhere, it's easier to squeeze in an extra chair without it looking odd. We went with rounds for ours and were able to have 2 different round sized tables 6ft or 8ft to accommodate different amounts of groups. We had 2 people unexpectedly show up (one of my FIL's colleagues who thought they RSVP'd). So the rounds definitely helped with seating them.

I feel like round tables work better for ease of conversation, passing food if it's a family style dinner. The head table though should be rectangular.

Round. I'm always stuck on the corner of a rectangular table, and it's just not the best for getting people to interact/socialize...

Also round tables flow better in my OCD brain for floor plans Smiley laugh

We want our guest to get interactive. It’s more fun when you can talk to everybody around the table. Definitely round for me.

Our venue only has round tables. So we are good with that. Head table will be rectangular.

Round is simple and classic... it also ignites conversation amongst guests seated at the same table.
