Stressed Out.

Brittany, on September 30, 2021 at 11:57 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

I know I should not be stressed considering we aren't planning on getting married until at least August 2023, but all the places we like have such limited availability for 2023 already. It makes me feel like we are going to keep pushing this until we can get what we want.

We finally decided that we want to have a tent wedding, so ceremony outside (if the weather allows) and the reception in the tent. I knew things were going to be booking quickly, but I never thought this quick.

I can see how hard it is to book for the year 2023 as venues are getting couples to changing the dates and to get yours booked at the same time. Yes its going to be difficult though you would have to choose the dates available and make the choice to say the season is what you want that fits that month. Don't give up on your search and just keep trying with the venues.

Outdoor wedding is good in August though it can change knowing the season and open tent may have guests feeling a bit chilly as jackets and blankets were worn the night before our wedding at the firepit on the beach with the family.

The one suggestion is looking at two budgets which will have a big impact once you get the final numbers.

Venue wedding vs. Tent wedding where you have most of what you need from the venue done opposed to doing everything yourselves for the tent. The rentals you have to consider plus fine china and glasses etc. will add up easily for the guest count. Tables and tablecloths will also be needed. An option to go if you don't want fine china and tablecloths way is to get dollar store items that will give the same kind of look though it will be a thin plastic material. Centerpieces can be a DIY project too. Research is a good way to know where will get the moneys worth for the wedding you want.

I would maybe expand your circle a little wider for your venues if short distance travel is an option. Would you want to move your date if a place you love is available? Things are booking up fast I had to get a photographer to travel to us as everyone local was booked for our weekend in 2022. My suggestion is what I mentioned above open up your immediate area of search, ask for recommendations on social media if possible as well. Try not to stress too much yet, you still have about a full year to find something and book ! Good Luck

By tent weddings, I mean enclosed clear tents that already have heaters at the venue. So I don't think that would be the issue. But after talking more with the fiancé we may try to move it up to August/early September.

How many are you planning to invite? I'm just worried that Octobers in Alberta will be freezing if you're outside, even under a tent and renting heaters might end up blowing your budget. Would you consider a non-traditional wedding venue just to widen the scope a bit?

Oh yeah, that’s very frustrating. I’m sorry that you’re going through that stress. You’ll be great and I’m wishing you a better planning ahead. Hope that you’ll have an amazing venue viewing to find that best venue for you both!!

Yeah these next few years are going to be crazy. I think the reason why I am stressed is also how since I first got engaged I have planned and budgeted so many different places and that was also when I had a ton of free time.

Now I got a much busier job and my home life is busier so I haven't really had the chance to start planning and do my budget analysis in excel about all the things we both want for this wedding.

As for venues, we found 3 that we like (the clear span tent) and so we are going to check them out the next 3 weekends.

    Hey Brittany!!
Oh yes, since so many weddings are pushed back and postponed because of Covid. It’s been very backed up. I read somewhere that 2022 has the higher number of weddings than 1975, or something like that. I wish that you’re able to get all that you want and more with your plans on having the outside wedding. Take it easy and I wish you all the best on your plans.

Still looking at venues or you found one to can do that?
