Square One!

Hi all!!

Happy planning to everyone!

Quick question to very specific folks - to those who scaled down their wedding, how did you inform your guests? My partner and I made the decision to fully cancel our May 2022 wedding and replan for a much smaller wedding (date undetermined - we're in no rush!) with just immediate family and some close friends. Our original wedding was a list of 60, a lot of those who are out of the country. We've told our family already of course and a lot of our close friends but for those that we are unable to see in person or friends of parents, how did you let them know?

We didn't send out formal invitations yet, just our save the dates via email. Any suggestions? Should we just message everyone individually?

The invitations for the wedding not being sent out is a saver and a note by email or a note to notify your family, friends and other guests. You happen to have a website, you can have a note change to let them all know plans have changed and wedding will be taking place on the day and celebrations will be held until further notice.

I would just be straight up with your guests that you've cancelled your may 2022 wedding. There's no need to beat around the bush and just let them know that when you've decided on a new date you will let everyone know

What Hank said! We just sent an email out (we collected them through our RSVPs and our invite had a little card saying things unfortunately may change) saying that unfortunately due to restrictions, we cannot have everyone we had wanted and would be calling those individuals. People were SOOO understanding.

If you're no longer committed to the May 2022 date, you should let people know so they can free up their schedule (and hopefully no one has made travel arrangements). Just say there are a change of plans due to covid. If you're doing a live stream of the wedding, you can always send an invite to the link for that afterward when things are ready.
