Splurging?

Bianca, on June 18, 2018 at 17:22 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 17
Hello, Ladies! What did you feel ok or it was ok to splurge on for your wedding? If you had the money to do so and why? Any splurging regrets? Thanks!

Interesting, I’d forgotten about the Cultural aspect of food.

My fiancé and I are splurging on the food and drink as we're having a four-course plated dinner and open bar as it's important to us that we (and our guests) enjoy themselves.

We splurged a little on the food as we both love it and know that it is something that sticks with people after the event. No regrets!

When FH and I first started talking about budget we each chose 2 things we would be ok splurging on- he chose food and drinks and I chose photography and flowers. Those are the things we have been okay putting the most $$ into.

We splurged on our photographer and everything else we budgeted carefully. We agreed since day one that we would splurge on the photographer because that it what will last the longest out of everything Smiley smile

Not splurging! Both my partner and I are way too frugal to really go above and beyond with the budget. We are intentionally keeping it low key, and cost effective since we are paying for it 100% ourselves and we are refusing to go into debt over it. I don't judge those that do, it is just not the choice we made for ourselves. Smiley smile

Photographer and the venue so we can build our wedding from the ground up and use whatever vendors we want and not just what they want us to use from their “approved” list

My 2 splurges are photographer and food/bar

A good Photographer is my absolute top priority, as I want to remember all the amazing parts of my day forever.

Food and drinks are super important to me as well becusse I want everyone to enjoy themselves. We are self catering with a taco bar and roasting a pig, so its cheaper in the long run, but it's also something really close to my heart to be able to cook and prep for my wedding ❤

My splurge is the lace we're planning to trim my dress with. I found the perfect one but it's made in NYC and I'm in BC....

Honestly nothing to me is worth splurging on. I just can’t justify spending more than budgeted on anything for one day. It’s already so pricey!

I somewhat splurged on shoes and don't regret it one bit. They are so me and I love them. I was ready to splurge on my entire outfit but my mom insisted on buying my dress and accessories as a gift so I didn't have to.
We are also splurging on the venue (bar, catering, venue) and I don't regret it one bit. It will be 2/3 of our budget but we love the location and the feel and good food is important to me. We also have had a few big ticket items being paid for my parents (church, dress, photographer) so it has allowed us to splurge on other things and still keep our budget in check.

We have probably splurged on everything much more than we had planned! But we definitely have splurged big on the videographer! Considering FH didn't even care for one, we have splurged! But I am happy with our choice and I can't wait to see our final video product!!

The dress... I budgeted $2,000 for the dress, taxes & alterations... and it ended up being a $2,200 dress!!! But I love it so much. My fiance now has personally "upped" his custom tux budget from $600 to $1000, to compete... haha.

I kept feeling pressured to splurge for the photographer, and get a videographer... but I couldn't do it... we aren't the mushy type to sit and stare at photos... so we found a great photographer under $2k (including engagement), and opted for no videographer. I'm probably just going to have a family member film the ceremony.

Food was a must, we are getting the top level buffet option (still only $48 per person, but YUM!) I always hear people remembering food being really good, or really bad...

And that's it! Everything else we can do minimally, and enjoy the moment.

I guess you could say I splurged on my photographer. I found her via my cousin who just got married and loved her photographs. I attempted to find other photographers but due to circumstances, I went with the one I have. I'm pretty excited and don't regret a penny of it!
