Splurge or Save: The cake

Joey, on September 9, 2019 at 08:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 29

Will your wedding cake be a lavish, towering masterpiece? Or will you keep it sweet and simple?

Are you splurging or saving on the wedding cake?

Save - my aunt is a professional baker and she will be making my wedding cake as my gift. I still plan to give her money though because she put me so much into her craft.

Saved. My mom has a past client who makes cupcakes on the side so I'm just going to ask her to do that and then we'll get a small cutting cake.

I think it's literally all bread, and ya - it's a discussion I made to see if others were straying from the cake route or if they were sticking to it what does their cake look like: Wedding Cakes

We didn't do a wedding cake. We just served dessert with dinner. It was a big hit!

Saving. We're getting a 3 tier buttercream wedding cake from a cool bakery in Toronto, but the designs are pre set and very simple. So.. I suppose it's saving in a way. It won't be a fancy cake. Just nice and elegant.

I meant to ask you were those little doves marzipan or what was that? I don't know anything about Korovai. That was the braided bread from a different discussion right?

We splurged a bit on the cake, as the design is very intricate.

We are saving here! We are doing mostly cupcakes (with a small cutting cake) which ended up saving us money.

Splurge. We wanted to order enough cake so that everyone can have a peice (which is a little more than bakeries suggest since not everyone eats the cake) and we were so paranoid about the prospect that someone could want cake and not get it. Plus, FH is keen on the idea of leftover cake to take home Smiley xd . We also fell in love with a particular design of cake that I found on Pinterest and needed a professional baker to execute it.

Saving. Just cupcakes in 5 different flavors but still feel it's a simple design. we did however splurge and get a 6 inch cake on top for our 1 year anniversary.

Saving. I found a really good deal on a cake baker. so it is way cheaper than what I was quoted from other bakers!

We are also only serving the wedding party as dessert is included in our package

Saving - yet again. Having my Baba make a Korovai and we are probably going to get just a pie or something to do the cake cutting.

Splurge. Although we got a significant discount (my MOH is friends with the owner) we are having an elaborate 3 tiered cake with 3 elegant flavors and then 6 types of dessert with a chocolate fountain!

Ours is fairly simple id like to think but it is a pretty penny for a cake! So splurge I’ll say.
