Something New, etc.

Liberty, on February 28, 2022 at 22:10 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 17

I'm sure you all have heard of the tradition something new, something old, something borrowed and something blue.
Are you planning on doing this tradition? If so what are you using for each part?I went to a consignment store to find my dress and was planning on using my 2nd hand dress as something old but I ended up buying a brand new dress the store had. So now I'm back to square one for something old. Also no ideas for something borrowed or something blue!

Something old/borrowed: my grandma's necklace that everyone in the family has worn on their wedding day
Something new: my wedding dress Something blue: I have a small blue charm bead like thing I'm going to tuck into my bouquet.

I just realized I have a ring I wear almost everyday that's almost 30 years old. My dad gave it to my mom when they were dating and she gave it to me when I was 22! Guess I have my something old!

    I'm definitely doing this!

Something old: a strand of pearls I got from my parents for my high school graduation, plus I may be using the tulle underlayer from my mom's wedding dress to create a custom veil
Something new: my dress!Something borrowed: a vintage brooch that was my great-grandmothers (borrowed from my mom - technically this works as something old too) pinned to my bouquet Something blue: a jeweled hairvine with blue opal+ a silver sixpence in my shoe (You can still order them from the UK Mint or find on Etsy)
If anyone has unlimited shoe budget.... this company makes THE CUTEST wedding shoes that handle all of your items in one: https://charlottemills.com/
Each pair of shoes has an original silver sixpence embedded in one shoe - which serves as the sixpence AND something old. The shoes are your something new. Each shoe has the logo in blue on the shoe, and they even provide an envelope in each box that's meant to be returned (with a wedding photo of course) that serves as something borrowed. Plus they have the rhyme on the bottom of each shoe which would make for incredible details photos 😍
Sadly they are equivalent to $450-500 CAD + tax and shipping.

It is! I think since the sixpence isn’t in production anymore a lot of people have forgotten about that part of the saying. So nice you’re including it!

Definitely doing the something old something new. My friends have traditionally made it our mission that each of our other friends have each piece. I got my friend a blue ankle bracelet, her MOH gave her their grandmother's ring to attach to her flowers, so that took care ot the old and borrowed (since she had other jewelry) the new was the dress,
For myself I am borrowing jewelry from my mother, my dress is new, I have a blue charm to put in my bouquet. My something old is where I'm having some issues lol. I bought a sixpence off of Amazon so that was easy....

I'm going with this tradition as well! I'm not super traditional normally, so this will be nice to get into.

Something old: my necklace that my fiance got when we first started dating (not super old, but it's from 9 years ago!)

    Something new: my dress

Something borrowed: I'm doing a double whammy for this one, my future mother in law lent me a sixpence to put in my shoe. To be honest, I didn't know this was apart of the tradition until she told me about it, but I love it!

    Something blue: my shoes

I'm definitely stumped as well! My grandmas best friend offered me the necklaces she has from her mother but they don't match my dress. But it was such a nice gesture!!

I think the borrowed is the hardest one! For my MOHs wedding she got herself a necklace and she got me a matching one so I told her she should borrow mine since it's the same as what she was planning on wearing
