So much to do, so little time

Bethany, on January 30, 2017 at 01:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 20
When my guy proposed I was so excited I decided I wanted to get married asap. That gives me 8 months to plan a wedding. I work full time so I'm pressed for time and I'm indecisive. I don't have time to be indecisive! Anyone have advice on what made or makes their wedding planning easier??

My wedding is in June- planning had been going well, but we have hit a little hiccup in things (I'll post later when I have collected myself a bit!)

Are you a a Pro MUA or just for fun?

Hey Bethany! I think you're on the right track! Smiley heart Photographer is a big deal! Congrats on finding one already! You're on track with your venues and once it will get confirme you'll be able to look for florists. What's making you nervous about dress shopping sweety? Do you know what style you like? You can take a look at these discussions to see which details you like and don't like and get a better idea:

Design your ideal wedding dress - Skirt

Design your ideal wedding dress - Neckline

Design your ideal wedding dress - Sleeves

But the only way you'll know is by trying them on! Smiley winking Who will go dress shopping with you?

I planned my wedding in 2 weeks! It's possible. Which meant 48 weeks of relaxation! Still 8 months until our wedding! Make decisions one at a time - know what you want before you start looking because it makes decisions easier to make. I was in school full time and working so I know it can be done!

You're one step ahead of me with the makeup lady! Smiley winkingI'm mainly researching vendors because we want to see what we like and how much we have to save up!So far we've talked to one venue and it would be our dream wedding if we go that way but we just want to compare and explore all options. Right now I'm setting up appointments to view venues and honestly, I'm shopping for a date! Some venues are in less demand in the off-season and I want to build everything around the best deal we can get for a venue.

How far are you on your wedding?? There is nothing concrete about my wedding yet. I've been working on it but even the big stuff isn't done. I haven't picked a venue still waiting on the quote from a place I really like. I think I have a photographer I like but still have to meet with him. I have a dress appointments end of this week. I need a hair person. The only thing for sure about my wedding is the groom and my makeup lady lol.

I'm still deciding on venue! I am in touch with some places but haven't made a decision. I think I have a photographer I like. I have my makeup lady for sure. I've worked with her for some time now. I need a hair person. I need a florist. I have some appointments at two dress shops but I'm super nervous about it! I can be picky. I need to find one I like which is a scary thought. I need an officiary. I'm working on it but prob only thing that's decided is my bridesmaids and my makeup lady. My maid of honour lives out of province too Smiley sad but she's been my bestie since ever.

I found a couple of smaller ones in Edmonton that aren't on Sundays. I only found out about them because I have started following a bunch of vendors on instagram (which is a great way of checking things out!) and they posted about these smaller shows they are participating in.Also if you can't find time to attend a show, use their vendor list on their websites as a starting point, check them out and reach out to the ones that you like. You can definitely do it! There are lots of sample timeliness online that you can use as a planning guideline.

Most of the shows by me are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But definitely worth booking a day off on your timeline! It will really help having so many vendors all in one place. Have a list of questions for each vendor type at the ready

Hey Bethany! Don't worry, we'll get through this together. I'm sure everything will go perfectly Smiley heart It might seem like there's a lot to do, but step by step you'll see that things become much easier Smiley smile You can take a look at these checklist to start with:

    You're engaged! Now what?

Checklist: Things to Do 12 months before the wedding

Checklist: Things to Do 9 months before the wedding

Checklist: Things to Do 6 months before the wedding

What step are you at right now? Anything we can help with? Smiley smile

Salume nailing it as usual!!! Bridal/wedding show would be a PERFECT jumping off point for you. There are tons happening now. You'll want to get your venue booked ASAP, you may have problems finding one with September availability now, but you never know! Next will be the dress, most take 6 months to order in and then you need time for alterations.

What have you done so far? Let us know what's taken care of so we can help better Smiley smileDo you have time to go to a couple of bridal shows ? Apparently this is the season! Going to a bridal show can give you a clear idea of what you might like or dislike and you will have a chance to meet some vendors and make connections. Also it might be helpful to prioritize what you care most about and begin there. For example, if there is a venue you must have, try to book it as soon as you can or secure your date with your favorite photographer. Another big job might be dress shopping as you would want to allow some time for placing and order and fitting a couple of alteration sessions before the wedding.
