Signs as Decor: In or Out?

Lynnie, on February 18, 2019 at 10:34 Posted in Wedding reception 0 27

Signs can be helpful, signs can be cute - but at what point do we hit "over-signage"? Are you still all about wedding signs as part of your decor, or are you all signed out?

What's your take on the signs as decor trend? In or out?

Directional signs for outside are the only signs we're having. It's a small venue so anything inside will be pretty self explanatory lol

We just had a welcome sign at the entrance and also included our wedding hashtag

Out. Except only for 1 sign telling the guests that the ceremony is at the back of the hall in a park across the street.

In. I have yet to be at a wedding where they had signs that weren't needed.

Out! Signs aren't useful as it does take up space and need a strong pole to stay on. A project that will need some time of the day required.

In my 20's I wanted to have a directional sign and include a board that said "this way to the lake", so that when folks got on my nerves I could tell them to follow the directions to the lake and go jump in it...smh..luckily I've matured, and will not be doing that.

I think fresh, crisp, minimal signage can still be in though.

I think it’s out. I mean, it’s good to have some signage but I wouldn’t say it’s decor.

I’m not really into signage, we won’t be having any at our wedding. So for me, it’s out.

We will have a few! But not so many directional signs like the sample image... I can see that being better used in a space where people are doing the ceremony and reception together and need more direction.

In in moderation. And as long as the handwriting/calligraphy is well done. DIY attempts that fall short of the mark but go up anyway make me cringe.

50/50 - Some people overdo it. Guests don't need a sign for everything.

That being said, I do like the "essential signs" (Seating chart, table numbers, guestbook/gift table, in memoriam), as well as the "unplugged wedding" signs.

In if it’s in moderation. Some signs are needed but some are barely noticed

As long as they're not chalkboard signs, I like them.

I am a huge believer of everything in moderation lol, so I think it’s easy to overdo anything. I don’t know if i’ll need any for my wedding but if I do it will be just a few.

As long as they aren’t too over done I am in! It’s a cute little personalization, but if you have too many signs it’s a bit much

For me it depends on the type of sign. I'd say in, though.

Definitely needs moderation! Some signs are good but too many is overwhelming! We'll have a sign that acts as a ceremony program at the front of the ceremony space, a welcome sign for the reception, a seating chart, and a guestbook sign (we're doing a Polaroid book so we'll have something about that with our hashtag) but that's pretty much it. Guests should get the hint of where the cards go, the venue has its own washroom signage, etc.

I think you need a balance of signs. Signs that are informative like maybe an unplugged wedding sign and such is okay but some weddings look like someone got loose with their new label maker gadget and everything and everywhere has a sign.
