I am also waiting on a dress from David's Bridal. Now it is ok because we postponed from this October until October 2021. This community is a great outlet! I am also really enjoying the Betches Brides group on Facebook, if you haven't checked it out you should!

I am extremely heartbroken. I was so excited to plan for my wedding and our new life together and now the uncertainty is eating me. I cannot move in with him until our wedding, so eloping doesn't work us either...Sometimes I want to postpone to spring 2021 immediately and sometimes I just get a glimpse of hope that tells me to wait until August.

Everyday im back and forth!! i dont know what to do its SOOO stressful

Good luck, my wedding is August - We are still holding out for it, if things continue to get to a reasonable pace and we are at least allowed to have social gatherings of up to 100 people. I am pretty sure I can convince the venue to proceed with a "reduced" guest list. It would be a win win, as they and my already booked vendors would get some revenue this year.

It will be sad, as I will lose my maid of honor as she will most likely not be able to fly in from BC - I also have quite a few friends from out West who would most likely not be able to travel. There also is a ton of family for both my fiance and I from US/Europe that definitely won't be able to come. If we cannot, then I think we will have a civil wedding with just our parents - and push some sort of actual formal ceremony and reception to later on. I have heard some crazy stories that although vendors have been accommodating with postponement - they are all still amending contract prices to reflect 2021 pricing. Our families are not in a position to financially help for this wedding, so a financial hit beyond what we've budgeted for would be very devastating.

YUP I have thought about that many times. Wedding planning was actually a fun outlet for me, and now it has just turned into a stressful nightmare. But I am trying to remain positive and hopeful that things are starting to look up. It certainly seems so.

I was just at my optometrist today and he said he imagines that the fall is going to be A ok for weddings. (Hopefully late summer as well). Not that he is an expert or anything but it was nice to hear.

Davids actually contacted me this week to re book an appt we had in March to June for our bridesmaids so that is sorted, which was literally our last thing to do. Everything else that is left is decor so that will be easy to handle last minute. We are waiting until middle of July to make any kind of call - recommended by our venue.

I think we might even consider just downscaling our 100 guests down to whatever the limit is by that point if we have to, as neither of us want to postpone to next year just to still be in the same situation if we are truly going to be waiting for a vaccine before we can gather. But again, we will see!

I am sending everyone hopeful and happy vibes that it will work out for everyone left this year. I am so sorry for all the couples who had to cancel or postpone. In our social circle we have had a handful already. This was going to be the year of weddings!

Ohh okay well that's good then! I've talked to a few people who (myself included) who would want to elope for various reasons. For us, our date doesn't mean too much to us, we just want to married .. as corny as that sounds lol

View quoted message Thank you Honestly we could but that’s just a “technicality” for us so I don’t really “need” to elope beforehand (although I’m happy for al the couples that do- especially if it has a significant meaning for them) so that’s why we’re not really going to elope and if it doesn’t happen we’ll just wait. Would you consider eloping on the day of your wedding so that it is in the summer and then postpone the reception until next year?

View quoted message For sure! Lol I'm not too worried about postponing our day if it comes to it. Our day to day life won't change all all. We already live together, we have kids, we have our home. I feel so terrible for everyone here who is sort of stuck postponing all of that. I feel 100% worse for all the other couples than I do for myself if that makes any sense. We've been waiting years already to have our perfect day and one more year won't make a big difference in the grand scheme of things for us.

It's definitely been a very different discussion on WW these last few months. In the early days it was really hard to face, I won't lie. I almost deleted the app because it was so draining mentally to come on here. BUT I've been blown away by how positive and supportive everyone on here is, especially in the face of needing to change cancel or postpone the biggest day of our lives.


It will get better, it gets a teeny bit closer to the end every day! And I've definitely noticed more normal conversation on here lately about shoes, dresses, and horrible bridesmaids (which also suck) or hair and makeup and it's been very refreshing.

Big sighs over here too .. and i've thought about that a couple times. I feel like there is a new post about COVID or a postponement and I feel so bad for everyone.

I'm over here trying to be optimistic as well.
