Shower Games

Joey, on May 29, 2019 at 08:20 Posted in Before the wedding 0 17

What do you think of shower games? Are you a big fan of cute trivia games and quizzed designed around the guest of honor or the couple? Are you into the active games, like scavenger hunts and building wedding gowns out of paper? Or do you prefer to skip the games and go right to the food and gift opening?

Do you enjoy shower games? Do you have a favorite?

I am all for most games! But max. 3. The only one I don’t like is the toilet paper wedding dress. I was at a shower where they had maybe 5 games with about 30 women. It was a lot. I was a bridesmaid but hadn’t had any part of the games but was the one writing the gifts on the cards-pretty sure gift opening took an hour. The shower was at least 3 hours. Not including the food!

I'm in the no game group. My mom wants to put together some minute to win it games, and I'm trying to convince her I'd rather have a casual BBQ with food and mingling.

Like many, I do like trivia games but not so much the active games or games where people have to get into teams. Luckily my mom and I are on the same page so I know we won't have any of those. My shower is more about mingling and food!

It is very awkward and if you aren't good at the whole acting happy regardless of the gift its worse!

People open gifts in front of people? I find that awkward - I’m not going to do that for mine.

Ill take the gifts home and send out thank yous.

I just had my surprise (not really) bridal shower on Sunday, and it was terrible lol. I hated the getting to know the bride games, I thought the "what do you have in your purse/on your phone" games were okay, and I left the room for the toilet paper wedding dress lol.

The best part was when the groom and all of his friends and male relatives arrived, and we played the he said/she said game (the shoe game?). That was actually really enjoyable Smiley smile

I think it's the one time you get to do them and you should take advantage of it!

I like trivia games, so if they are about me - the guest of *honour* then I'm all for it! (Can you tell I'm a Leo Smiley tongue)

Not that big into the scavenger hunts but a tradition that you see a lot is putting all of the bows on a hat for the Bride to be to wear which I like.

I like the trivia games at showers, and my guests seemed to like it too! I think those scavenger hunt ones can get a little tacky.
I've never been to a shower where they opened gifts, so I didn’t do it at mine. It really runs the risk of embarrassing people who don’t give as much or only give something small.

I feel the same about gifts... it can be so tiresome and awkward. I, personally would DIE if I had to sit there and open gifts infront of 20 plus people... luckily we mostly got cards/cash and my bridesmaid replied to everyone saying gifts were welcome but that we wouldn't be opening them there just so people knew not to expect that. I feel like sometimes people don't know if they're allowed to leave if gifts weren't open yet.. I have been to a shower where I swear it was minimum an hour... bruuutal

That's right up my alley... that's basically what we did. it was a brunch and champage theme. and there were plenty of prizes but they were lowkey.. like the scratch card, coaster date night, who rsvp'd first to the shower, and then a couple table games... I don't like the moving around and loud shuffle of some games and I have been to a couple where there were "get to know the other guests" games... no thank you.... it's just not for me.

I also am not the biggest fancy of showers, unless I know the person really well. I have been to a few showers where I didn't know the bride at all so games were a bit tough lol.

For my shower, my Step Mom is not planning any games, just a high tea and some socializing before the wedding. We are doing draws for some prizes, but more of a low key shower.

I like the games, the quizzes the most because you find out more about the couple you didn't know already. I like the tradition of it and then food hell yes! my fav part- I find if a lot of people at the shower the gifts get boring and take forever.

I like a few games. I think it’s fun and people enjoy them (at least at the showers I’ve been at).

such a fitting question when i am literally planning my bridal shower right now!

I don't care for active games.. I'm not a huge fan of showers to be honest so for mine I wanted the least amount of games as possible. I put scratch cards at every seat and 1 per table was a winner and won the centerpiece, we had date night coasters and my fiance and I picked the funniest one and they got a prize and we had a couple funny trivia games about us... then FOOD
