Show me your bridal makeup looks! ?

Linzer, on December 23, 2016 at 20:41 Posted in Beauty 0 20
So makeup is my favourite thing in the world (besides my FH and cats) and I want to do my own makeup for my engagement shoot and hopefully wedding day.
Are you doing your own? Done your trial yet? Know what kind of look you want?
Did you do your own? How'd it turn out? Wish you'd hired a pro?
I could use inspiration lovely ladies!

In my neck of the woods it's $80- $100 ish for the bride alone. But they seem to package with hair.

No TuxI think we will be wearing suits. We have picked a colour for grooms men shirt and bridesmaid dresses. We are going with burgundy red.

Very convenient and honestly I can't imagine having nayone else in my bridal party! I have other girl friends that I adore but they are mostly through work. My coworker has a horror story of being asked to be on of 13!!! bridesmaids for a girl she hadnt talked to until high school and it was a miserable experience. Made everyone pay for their own makeup, hair, uber rides and didn't feed them at ALL during any of the prep AND dinner was cocktail reception so no dinner (but they told no one) so she basically went 12 hours on a hot dog she bought off the street and some canapes..... x_X Some people are crazy.

And I THINK for my MOH's wedding, I'll be the only one in her birdal party! I'm seeing her on Thursday so I'm going to make her download this app haha

I creeped some your wedding pictures that you posted now and you definately look stunning and perfectly made up! I don't have a photographer yet, still searching. I want to do my engagement shoot in the spring! I've never done a professional shoot so that's probably what I'm most excited for (for now!). Spring is much closer than the 580 odd days until the wedding! LOL

Yes hopefully you don't have to worry about sweating off your makeup! That's the worst! I forgot that you only have your MOH. That's nice that you'll only have to worry about the two of you!

Have you talked to your photographer about the best types of makeup to use? That's a very good point! Our photographer's style used natural lighting rather than flash for the most part so luckily it didn't look too washed out. They didn't use a lot of blush for my look so it could have looked very pale if there was too much flash!

And that's awesome that your mom has a makeup spray gun! Is she planning on using it for her look for the wedding? I'm hoping my sister might eventually get one and then I can have her do my makeup for special occasions. Smiley winking

Aw, why thank you! Smiley smile that second is a lancome lipstick in "Trendy mauve" and actually is one of my absolute favourites! Wore it yesterday :p
I actually have two go-to setting sprays, depending on whether I want matte or dewy! I agree that most people don't use setting sprays on the regular and it is SO necessary for a long ass day!!! Since my wedding will be August I'll probably want a more matte look (I'll already be plenty "dewy" with sweat and probably freckle face to boot!) So I'll likely use my UD All Nighter Spray.
I actually really hate wearing foundation in the summer months so depending on whether my skin cooperates (booooo acne) I can be lighter handed with the base.
I've also heard that some regular makeup doesn't translate well in professional photography! Like you have to be even bolder with looks for it to have a difference, and concerns with flashback from primer. Ugh.
So I'm just having my MOH, no bridesmaids! She's pretty good with her own makeup so she will probably do her own as well. We will just have to fight off my mom who desperately wants to play with her makeup spray gun machine LOL

Your eyes are gorgeous! You do such a good job highlighting them. I love the lip in the second photo you posted! It's a little warmer but still looks natural. Definitely looks like you can handle your wedding day makeup! I would recommend getting some setting spray for the day of the wedding so that it lasts all day and you don't have to reapply. (I figured that might be something that's not in your everyday makeup kit!)

What about for your bridesmaids? Are they doing themselves as well?

Ahhhhh good old kitten! That's awesome! I love the UD Naked line and Too Faced myself, I just got the semi sweet chocolate pallette for Christmas!
I do fully face pretty much every day, so doing my wedding makeup shouldn't be too much of a stretch, but then the pressure is on to be even extra special for the big day! I'm definitely using falsies, probably individual ones rather than a strip because less heavy and chunky as you mentioned.
I am really wanting to use my Naked 3 Palette, using the dusty pinks and rose golds.
I was messing around the other day and did this. Some of he constructive criticism I got from the makeup group I'm in is to do a berry lip instead of this pink.

So...more like these older split pics from a lipstick challenge I did.

Haha I asked my sister and she said that she used "Lorac Pro 2 and Kat Von D Shade and Light palettes and Stila eyeshadow in Kitten." She did such a good job, I was so proud! I used to wear more makeup when I was younger but now I don't really have the time or want to put in the effort so I usually just do foundation, blush and then minimal eyeshadow with mascara on the top. I use the Naked palette or the Too Faced ones. I generally do my makeup in the car on the way to work every morning haha. Smiley xd If I'm going out, I'll go for a metallic gold eyeshadow on the lid and black or dark green eyeshadow for the crease, maybe some eyeliner. (My eyes are hazel so those tones work well for me.)

I really loved the false lashes they used on me for the wedding day! For the trial, we had used a single strip and they were nice but for the day of the wedding, we actually went with individual lashes that were in groups of 3 and they moved so nicely and didn't feel heavy. I loved them!

Makes sense! Last time I got my hair / makeup done by a pro was for prom and the lady did both! I wasn't as into makeup as I am now so I didn't bat an eye but now I'm like...do you ACTUALLY know what you're doing!?
For prom the lady was a former pagent girl so luckily for me she did!

Aww thank you, that's so nice of you!! It weirded me out with the hair and makeup things got I found most hair stylists just have a separate makeup artist they work with so they bundle their stuff.

You have such nice skin not surprising that you didn't need much!
Yeah most hair people I've contacted also bundle in makeup. Make some nervous though because hair stylist =/= makeup artist!

I did my own for my engagement shoot, which turned out surprisingly well considering I wear very little (and therefore don't own much) and have no idea how to put it on lol. But I hired a pro for the wedding. I just mostly didn't want to deal with it and it wasn't a crazy amount more since I'm getting my hair done so what the hell! First pic is when I was getting ready for engagement photos, second is the wedding trial

Ohhh gorgeous! A refined, but totally natural look! I love that hair too!
How different is that from your everyday look, overall? And what palette did they use, if you remember?

This was from my makeup trial. I did not do it myself but I loved the artists I worked with! I wanted it to be mostly natural with a purple smokey eye.

    Hair & Makeup Trial

My sister works for Sephora and is amazing with makeup so she did all the bridesmaids and did a phenomenal job! And it's funny because she ended up usimg the same makeup palette as my makeup artist. Great minds think alike!
