Should we postpone our Vow Renewal or just cancel?

Kim, on October 1, 2020 at 13:00 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5

Our actual 30th anniversary is April 27th, 2021, but we can't risk having it on that date because of COVID and we thought about October 2021 because my husband's busy season at work is May to September, and with the latest numbers this week we are wondering are we crazy to put it off until April 2022? It means 31 years and not as special as 30 years, but it's something we want to do. What do you think? Should we cancel all together or go ahead and not let COVID ruin our plans?

Pushing the date to the year 2022 is on the safer side to know its a celebration to look forward to have everyone with you. Its still a big deal for you both to have the vow renewal as a special occasion.

It’s hard to make plans right now as everything is changing daily. Perhaps you can give it a few months and see where we are by Christmas before you make a final decision? That still gives you 4 months to change things if need be.

But if you don’t want the stress then I agree with others and maybe postpone to 2022 while still doing something special on your actual date between you and hubby.

I think pushing it to 2022 will give you a better chance of the party you want to have.

And you can be cheesy and celebrate the 30th anniversary of your first anniversary 😉

I think if you want more certainty you should plan for 2022. Remember that even if we're lucky enough to have a vaccine early next year - and it could take longer - it will take a while to administer to everyone and restrictions will be slowly phased out to ensure no new spikes of cases. Alternatively you could plan for late 2021 but ensure all of your contracts let you postpone without a fee.
