Should i get a Wedding Planner for a small wedding?

Jenna, on August 6, 2021 at 12:41 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

I'm thinking of having about 50 guests on my 2023 wedding (definitely less than 100). Curious to know if anyone else is hiring/or has hired a wedding planner and what your experience is so far. I think I'd like someone to help coordinate on the day of the wedding, but doing all the planning pre-wedding I feel like I could do myself with the help of my fiance. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.

    Hello Jenna,

I am having a somewhat small wedding as well, about 65 people. I do not have a wedding planner, I am planning along with my sister. We are thinking of a day planner or assistant. Because it’s a small wedding, you can probably save on wedding planner and get a day planner if you like to have a smooth day.

I’m also having a small wedding of 40 guests and I didn’t use a wedding planner. My fiancé, wedding party and I really helped with putting a lot of things together. You can definitely consider a day-of-coordinator or month-of-coordinator.

It depends on how extravagant your wedding will be. I am having 50 people at mine in our backyard rustic theme . Our family members are helping me plan/ taking care of everything the day of and coming to help set up etc! I am also making lots of my decor and stuff too

Depends on how extravagant you want your wedding to be. If you're looking to really go all out but don't have time to lift a finger, get a planner. If what you're doing is manageable up to the month of the wedding but you don't want to stress the day of, get a coordinator.

We were originally planning on 50-60 guests before covid hit, and went with a month-of-coordinator but she helped me prior to that also by helping me source some other vendors too. She was absolutely amazing and was someone that I could bounce ideas off of while also being a great support system when things got really stressful due to postponing. She was definitely worth the money just in saving my sanity alone haha!

I definitely think you'd be okay with a day of or month of coordinator instead of a full wedding planner!

For a small wedding of 50, the cost seems extravagant for what you would need to get done. It's better to get the help of the wedding party and/or family to put the whole venue décor together in the morning or the day before except for real flowers (if going this route). Time out the date for picking up rentals or any arrangements of décor with your vendors to know it can be done when your ready to head to the venue. We did all the work for 72 guests as everything was sorted and ready to go for what was to be done at the venue. Bags for outfits/accessories, table settings, head table, wedding/reception lists, vendor folder/binder, and lists to go with them all in the appropriate bag. Welcome bags pre done were kept in the box as bottled water were added at the last minute and welcome package. The day before the wedding, the set up was done for the backdrop by us as well as the centerpieces with the help of the in laws to put the coloured water beads and LED lights in each for the table before the reception started.
