So you're engaged and ready to start planning. By this time you should have a budget in mind and an idea of what your willing to pay vendors.

Let's talk about photographers and how to move forward. One mistake I made was sending to many emails at once to all the photographers I was interested in. What a mess, I received so many emails at once Smiley surprise there was no way I can respond back in a day. Eventually it worked out.

How is your photographer shopping going?

What questions do you have to book your photographer?

Feel free to ask, no silly questions here.

We booked our photographer just after our engagement - it's the photographer who took the photos on our venue's website.

Really the only question I asked was how much is it going to cost? We did check out an alternative company but they were way more expensive. We're very happy with Purple Tree!

I looked at so many that Facebook ads picked up on it and found our photographer for us! She was running an ad for a fall promo sale and I literally stumbled upon it. We worked out a package, got a great deal, and scored a really talented photographer.
I'm so happy that Facebook and Google were spying on me that day 😜

A friends sister from high school started a photography service around when we really started planning. I'll be using her. Her prices are good and she is going to be there for 10 hours

That is amazing. I also just want a few good shots. One to enlarge and display at home. A few for facebook memories. I will never make an album and if I did I'd rarely look at it.

I also found our photographer on Kijiji! He does photography as a side gig. His prices were great, we liked him, so we signed the contract. In retrospect, we were probably less particular than many couples and we didn't ask a pit of questions. All I wanted was a few nice shots of our day. He definitely exceeded those expectations and we were really happy! I keep finding new favourites of our day.
    You can't beat $200 and a 5 day turnaround!

Here's one of my current favorites (this was right after we were pronounced married and if you look closely you can see my husband is still tearing up)

I found the photographer that was great and bit over the budget. His work was excellent to say and services given at the price. He was listed on kijiji site then. He has now gone into law.
