Sharing a heart-warming vendor story!

Megan, on February 7, 2020 at 22:58 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Yesterday I had the most amazing call with a wedding photographer. Even just over the phone, we had such a great vibe. She really made me feel good, and after hanging up, my fiancé and I decided we wanted to book her.

Three hours later, my fiancé’s car was hit by another car. THANKFULLY he’s not severely injured apart from some back and neck pain, and he was found to be completely not at fault (good news for insurance); but our car is totalled. Like, 100% unsalvageable.
So now we are emptying a significant amount of our wedding savings for a new car. We both have student debt and I have law school on the horizon, so we’ve nickel and dime-d our wedding savings, and now we have to spend it all on a down payment on a car. I was ready to tell the photographer that unless she would accept only a 25% deposit instead of her usual 50%, we would have to wait about 6 months to book her, which I feared meant that we would lose to her another wedding.
She immediately told me that she was more than happy to take 25% and that she was so happy that we were booking with her! She inquired all about my fiancé to make sure he was okay. I cried because I just felt that was so generous of her!! I’m still crying about it tbh.
I’m so floored by her kindness that I just had to share! Does anyone else want to shout out a wedding vendor who went above and beyond, or who helped you in a time of need? Smiley smile

He's getting physiotherapy for the pain, so hopefully they can straighten him out a little bit!

That is kind of your photographer to do given the sutuation at hand.
I had to pay all the deposits to the vendors which wasn't easy to do working in retail earning minimum. The date was set and requested them to save the date as they were our choice of venue, photographer and videographer making payments in 2 months time when the money was enough to pay. They were understanding and kind to do so and worked out great.

That’s such a lovely story! I’m so glad your photographer is so accommodating and caring.

For us, our stand out vendor was our florist. In particular, I was very conflicted about what to do regarding flowers for step parents. Deep down I knew that I didn’t want to do flowers for them, but I was a little worried about being judged and making people mad. She convinced me that what matters is that my husband and I get what we want, that this is our wedding. During a few visits she could see me freaking out about all the decisions and she calmed me down. She worked so hard to find us the perfect flowers that were the perfect colour for our bouquets. She just seemed to so genuinely care about us as people.

I'm so glad your fiance is ok! And it was so kind of your photographer to bend her deposit to make things easier for you, that doesn't happen often!

Over the years my fiance and I have had photos taken by friends, or been part of professional family photos and almost everytime he looks a bit like a squinty mannequin. I warned our photographer of this when we first began emailing and she did an amazing job to put him and me at ease. She was really aware of the light for our engagement photos but also to keep it our of his super sensitive eyes. And she made us genuinely laugh. The pictures are proof of how much fun we had with her and I cannot wait to see the wedding day moments she captures!
