I wouldn't sign and give deposits to any vendor that refuses vaccination in the first place. Vendors are potentially in proximity with hundreds if not thousands of people on any week alone leading up your wedding. Not to mention a lot of venues also have policies in place where people must be vaccinated to be on their premises.

For guests, we didn't ask formally in the invite but it was talked about in conversations prior. Basically when things were starting to open up, I asked if people were vaccinated so we can gauge whether we'd be comfortable meeting up and vice versa. Plus a lot of people proudly posted pictures of their sticker and band-aid at the vaccination site, which confirmed a good number for us. We're very thankful to be in a position where all close family and friends are vaccinated so we didn't need to have the awkward conversation but if it came down to it, it was one I was willing to have.

For vendors, we just straight up asked. It's just business. They're not my friends. We actually did not proceed with some potential vendors because they refused to disclose their vaccination status or outright said they refused to vaccinate. So I'll take my money elsewhere to those who will. To be perfectly blunt, and this sort of goes with guests too, they can't expect to reap the rewards of a vaccinated population while actively taking on a position that potentially endangers other people. So if they want to complain and throw a hissy fit about being alienated, it's their hill to die on as far as I'm concerned.

I don’t have a set date for my wedding yet but I think this will be a topic of contention for a while and just curious how you brought the conversation up. There are a small handful of people in my life that I would love to have at my wedding but are not vaccinated. I don’t think they’d take the decision to not have them there because of their choice very well but I obviously would want to protect the rest of the guests…

We're two weeks before you. One silver lining is that the vast majority of cases now are amongst those who are unvaccinated and we are only invited vaccinated guests and hiring vaccinated vendors. We still aren't letting our guard down though and will be following all safety protocols fairly strictly.
