September brides and Invitations

Shannon, on May 10, 2020 at 13:28 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 22
Hello Ladies ❓❓September BidesHow are you handling invites? We are still unsure of the measures that will be in place. I am lost and not sure how to proceed. 🤷‍♀️I have family on both sides of the boarder coming from near and far. Postponement is not an option.

Maybe you can have a smaller wedding to keep your wedding date?

This is what we're doing. We were planning on sending a first round out at the end of April with a July RSVP date but obviously that's unrealistic now. We've decided to downsize to be on the safe side and are waiting until June or so to send invites with a revised RSVP date to the end of August.

We also have different guestlist scenarios for 45 people or 15. That way we won't be stuck with making those decisions later on.

    Thank you Kim.

I am trying to wait until July. But all the last minute planning has me a bit nervous.

We're in the same boat with our October wedding. It's super stressful not knowing what restrictions will be in place.

We're planning on making the final call at the end of May. Hopefully we'll have a better idea of what we'll be able to do at that point.
We will absolutely get married as planned, even if it's a 5 person affair.
    Good luck with your decision!

I had personally sent out my invitation in addition created a Facebook group for My Wedding Day. I had made it private and asked all the guests to join this way I can keep everyone updated on what is happening and any delays or date changes. I also made it so they could RSVP directly on the Facebook page, so we could monitor who was coming.

Just a thought. There is also a website called Tietheknot where you can do the same thing that I explained I did on facebook, but this way you give them your "unique" URL.

I would recommend you put a disclaimer of sorts on the invitation, or as an insert. It would elude to the fact that while you are still planning on September, COVID and the restrictions may have different plans, and if restrictions are still not lifted enough by say the beginning of August, you will be in touch to advice your guests of what is going to happen.

Have you considered turning part of the wedding virtual? Bridal party, close family could attend in-person (should restrictions allow) and everyone else virtual.

If postponing isn’t an option then might as well send them out. Just remember borders are closed and still may be by then so international guests may not make it

I haven't sent out any invites yet for our end of July wedding. However, I've let family know that they're still invited and will be sending them soon. That seems to be the safest option right now. I don't want to invite even 50 people at this point, not knowing what the restrictions will look like. If we happen to be able to expand our guest list, I may just do an online announcement/e-invite.

You could send them out, maybe changing the RSVP deadline to closer to the date. Otherwise I would follow up with guests who have or haven't RSVPd closer to the wedding when you know more about how the day will unfold.

Our premier mentioned keeping provincial borders closed between PEI and NB (both have minimal cases) until at least July. I won't lie, this took away a lot of my hope that my fiance's parents would be able to come from the US or his siblings from Newfoundland for our October wedding.
My biggest worry with sending the invites out now is if 50 people say they're coming but then you can only have 25 gather, how do you chose? People will be understanding, this is unprecedented, but I feel like it would be a really hard decision.

The option of postponement being out of the question seems online if that is how you wish your guests to see you get married on your day. Social media is being done if you do zoom for guests to see it first hand or live cam by the photographer.

If postponement is not an option then you may as well send them out and hope that it happens Smiley smile I’m sure people will reach out to confirm but I’d send them out if you’re having it regardless

We get married on September 26th and we haven't sent out our invites yet. But everybody know that they are invited. We are getting married no matter what, even if it's just us 2 and have a party later on. We are getting married in NS but all of my family is in France so I don't know yet if they will be able to be here...
I am waiting a bit to send the invites, I think people understand it's a weird time right now.
    Good luck!

    HI Laura,

    Thank you

I should say I can postpone the reception. But I'd rather not. But at this point it seems the only reasonable option.

If postponement is not an option- perhaps you should continue forward as usual? That way everything will be in place and if you have absolutely no choice but to postpone in the end, you can send out one mass notification.
