Selecting a dj

Edith, on October 14, 2017 at 14:30 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
If you're having a DJ for your wedding, how did you end up selecting them? Did they have some sample music that you could listen to and find out their style? And any tips on things to consider before making the final selection?
We have contacted a couple of DJs, have some quotes and are planning on scheduling calls with them to ask some questions. But wanted to know if there's anything else we should do/look into before choosing one.

    Reviews.

Talk to your venue or other vendors for recommendations! A lot of them they have worked with many before & know which ones are good.

I would also find out what type of equipment your venue has. For example, our venue has no equipment. Our ceremony is outside, & the reception is in a barn. The DJ we are booking has done weddings at this venue many times & has ALL the equipment needed.

I talked to my dj over the phone and agreed to my quote. All paper work was sent by email and signatures with payments each time to know we both are covered if anything happens.

He had me fill out a sheet fir timing and song selection for him to be organized. All went smoothly without a hitch ob the wedding day

We were able to hide Bluetooth speakers in the decorations and link it all to an iPod to save on dj costs. Most music is free in very happy with going with that option music is loud enough that no one can tell they were portable 30 speakers from costco

My choice was based on reviews and a friend recommendation. Then I met with the DJ and felt like he was really listening to me and understood my taste in music, and so I booked him. My best advice is to read all the reviews you can!

I booked a DJ that did my cousin's wedding last summer. He had a great playlist. He was good to work with and prices were reasonable. I would just say to do your research, talk to other couples in your area and maybe go to a wedding show to get to meet some vendors in person before booking.

We chose a friend of my fiances, but I am now regreting booking them so early because they are disorganized and kind of vague when asked about details of what our package offers and they never gave a signed contract. We went to our venue meal tasting today and the venue had a DJ and live music as a sample and I loved it! I really regretted that we didn't look around more and just went with someone we knew

I just looked at reviews and went with the best reviewed DJ company. Our DJ was very flexible with music styles and read the crowd very well. We got so many compliments on how good the music was! I would also make sure that the DJ takes requests, I think most do but it's good to check!

I selected mine from Kijiji. He was very reasonable ($240.00 for 4 hours) and then I asked for references. I made up a play list and he followed it. You don't have to pay outrages amounts of money for a DJ. There's not much to playing from a song list.
