Save The Dates For Small Wedding?

TayCath36, on June 30, 2018 at 20:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10

My fiance feels that we don't need save the dates because our wedding will have 65 guests.

I'm wondering if save the dates are needed because some of our guests will be travelling from out of the country or province.

Another option is sending invitations earlier to our guests who are not local.

What do you think?

I have personally reached out to our out of town guests as soon as we set the date... we are forgoing STDs, and are just going to send out our invitations about a month or two earlier than normal (4-5 months instead of 3).

We have a lot more guests then that, but that’s not why we chose to send save the dates. We thought it was a cute way to share our engagement pictures lol.

We arent doing save the dates. As i cant justify the extra cost.
For our family/friends that live out of province or country. We messaged them as soon as we picked our date to give them a heads up.
We are gonna send out invites about 3-4 months ahead of time.

I think you should send STD's. I was torn between this too because I also thought "if we send our invitations early enough, we won't have to send save the dates" but I've come to realize that STD's are like a heads up to your guests that you picked your date and to save it lol.

We’re choosing to send save the dates, because of our wedding being in the summer. My family and my FH family are always gone on vacation. This way they can at least have it marked on the calendar so they don’t plan over it and get the invite 2 months later and have to choose.

We chose not to go with STDs since it wasn't needed. The only important thing was the main invitation allocating the infornation needed.

I had invited family for the most part in the States and locals. The overseas family would account for 30 more people and paying more for over 100 guests. His side was less than my whole family

Our wedding was 72 guests plus 4 vendor meals paid.

We did save the dates for our out of towners, because they take up a huge chunk of our invites! We didnt want to send invites too early in case people forgot, so we opted for save ththe dates now and invites in February!

I chose to not send save the dates and sent the invites to all out of province/country guests earlier - they were happy to receive the invite ahead of time to make arrangements.

I emailed save the date to our international guests about 12 months in advance so they could keep an eye on deals for flights. If they are going to have to book flights or take time of work for travelling, the earlier the better to let them know.

I included the date and city, a link to the hotel where we were having the reception in case they wanted to stay there and general info and links to the nearest local and international airports and shuttle services to and from the airports. Because of all the extra information I wanted to include, it was easier to email than to get something printed and mailed.
