Save the Dates and Invites

Hi All!
My wedding is still a little ways away but I’m starting to think about save the dates and invites and I am wondering do they have to match? (As in the exact same design on both) Is it weird if they don’t? Or is it weird if they do? I haven’t really been to many weddings in my life so I’m not sure what you’re “suppose” to do. I found a design I love for an invitation on zazzle but I’m just not into the fact that the save the date version of it comes on a postcard. So that means I would get a different save the date design, but if it’s weird to have different designs then I’ll go ahead and get the postcard version of the invites I want.

Am I thinking too much into it?

If you did them not the same I would love to see pics!

What do you think??? Any advice?

Mine wont match! we ordered magnets from vistaprint with one of our engagement photos and it turned out amazing. we sent our saves the dates MONTHS ago and our wedding is aug 2020. i dont think they need to match at all!

Mine didn't match - my Save the Dates had some of our engagement photos on them and our invitations didn't and had a different design.

I don’t think mine will match.. but i am keeping the same co,our scheme through everything. I think it’s personal preference

I love the idea of doing your engagement picture as your save the date. Then you don't have to worry about it matching at all....

Ours won't match either; we're going with an engagement photo for the STD and more formal invites in our colours.

Ours are not matching. I think it is okay to not match as Save the Dates go out way earlier than all other wedding stationery and you may still change your mind regards design, colours etc as you go along with all the planning

Ours haven’t matched at all! We did a picture of us for our save the date and very rustic for the invites. My shower invites have been to the theme of the party as well to keep everything a little different

Ours don’t match! we used one of our engagement photos for our save the date, and then chose invitations that matched our wedding colours and theme!

I didn't do save the date's but I don't think they need to match. And for what it's worth, I like the idea of having the save the dates be a post card and not in an envelope
Oh, and for my Bridal Shower we have a different design and different colour scheme too!

Your save the dates and invitations won't match unless you choose to the same design. Its your call on the choice to make.

Ours don't match either. Our save the dates have a photo of us on it from our engagement shoot.
Our invites will be formal invites that match our wedding colour scheme.

It's really up to you. They can match or they cannot. There's no rule and going either way isn't weird.
We did our save the dates different from our invites because we wanted a picture of us on the save the dates and having them match our invitations wouldn't allow us to do that, and it was cheaper this way too.
