Save the Date Help!!

Roxy, on September 1, 2020 at 12:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6

Hi Ladies, So me and my FH have our wedding date set for August 20th, 2022 and I feel quite confused on when we should be sending out the Save the Dates. Do I wait till 2021 Or do I send it out now and then send the invitation in 2021? If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it Smiley heart

Congrats!!! Ours is August 20th, 2021 and I’ll be sending ours out around October of this year. I’m an over-planner (I love it, makes me happy & calm) so it’s been hard to wait! That’ll be about 10 months before our day.

Honestly though, during these unusual times I’d rather have my favourite people planning to be there for our day well in advance. There’s going to be so many weddings pushed back so I want to make sure I get my invites out first!
Plus, I think it really gives your loved ones something to look forward to.

    Hey Roxy,

Congratulations on your engagement!!!!Smiley ring Smiley heart So I'm getting married in July 2021 I'm sending my save the dates out at the end of Oct 2020 because a lot of people have pushed their wedding etc. I'd say wait until 2021 for sure, but you can always judge between March - July 2021 (hoping that we do not have a second wave of Covid) you'll be able to decide whether you want to send them out earlier than usual or if you want to wait until 6-8 months. You'll definitely have a better understanding by July 2021 of where the world is by then, if we're on a huge lock down or if life is kind of going back to normal. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed I'm scared and I really don't want to have to change my date Smiley angry

Unless you have people traveling long distances I would wait until about 8-9 months before. If anyone needs to keep an eye out for flight details you can send them one early, or just give them a heads up.

My fiance and I sent out our save the dates 11 and a half months before our date. Since we're getting married in a different province (and it's a very tourist city where hotels fill up fast) everyone is going to be either staying in a hotel or Air BnBing, we wanted all of our guests to know ahead of time so that they can book hotels and such.

Save the Date should wait until 8 months prior to the wedding month so your guests will know in advance to make arrangements upon the invitation arrival.

You send it out now and everyone will lose it easily and forget when your wedding is taking place.

    Congrats on setting the date!!

I would send your save the dates 8-10 months in advance of the wedding.

I sent my Save the Dates out a year in advance and people were so confused - some of them didn't read the year properly and thought they had missed the wedding, some thought it was an invitation - it was a mess.

So I would say I wouldn't send it any earlier than 10 months out. So at the earliest, I would send yours in November 2021.
