RSVP stress

Vanessa, on July 30, 2019 at 11:00 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 16

Okay I am freaking out a little. Our RSVP date is 2 days away and I am still waiting on 100 people.

I wouldn't be freaking out so much if we weren't dangerously close to going over our maximum guest count for our venue. AHHH!

Please ease my mind and tell me you had a good chunk of people say no at the last minute lol - I only have 4% No so far. Do you think I'll make it to the usually expected 10% decline rate?

As someone else mentioned maybe got lost in the mail, first hand it's not really being rude but ask them all threw email if they even got your invitation or just sit it out. I had to send some threw Messenger because others misplaced them, then I got all the yes/no that way. Or they are on their way, . We sent out over 110 and 100 came so that was a great turn out. Good luck and don't let the little get you down, it's suppose to be your Special big day, don't let what other people do get in your way too happiness, Shine no matter what.

I really hope it works out for you! We are in a similar boat-- we have some ppl we are obligated to invite but really hope they don't come, I know that sounds awful but honestly some people just bring too much stress with themselves lol

The NO RSVP sucks to hear and for how many come back will be expected. I too had about 10% decline and last minute back out (family member) for another wedding to attend.

Just be patient and email guests who haven't replied back as a reminder.

Last week (1 week before our deadline), I sent a "gentle" reminder to the remaining guests. Went a little like this:

    Hi *insert name here*!
Andrew and I are really excited to see you at our wedding, September 7! We just wanted to remind you that last day to RSVP is next Wednesday, July 31. You can fill out the RSVP online via our website. If you are having problems with RSVPing online, just let me know and I'll update it for you on my end!
    Have a great day

I won't be so nice after the deadline, as guests had PLENTY of time to RSVP (roughly 6 weeks) or ask us for help.

I would suggest that you send a reminder today, as it will help after the deadline to gather the remaining RSVPs.

I just started getting RSVPs back, and they've all been yes's except for one. My deadline isn't for another month, but I can see people thinking that if they don't send an RSVP it means they are either maybe's or no's.

The worst offenders are the ones who are unsure, even if they've known about the wedding for months - if save the dates were sent. You might get an influx of RSVPs in the next 2 days and then after the deadline, I would start calling people. Sometimes invites do get lost in the mail and they never received it.

I hear you. The guest list was the absolute hardest part of planning for me. It is so hard to not care about people's feelings, or obligations, or what our families want. I had a lot of struggles with this.

You could be right though - I think some people think not RSVPing at all is their No.... hopefully in your case, this is what is going on!!

    Good luck!!!

At this point I am hoping that most of the remaining people have not responded because they are saying no LOL. We invited 300 but our MAX guest count for the venue is 280. Right now I'm at 195 attending with 100 more still hanging in the balance. My biggest fault is that I am too nice and gave in to parental pressure for the guest list. There were 15 or so people on my FH's side that his mom assured me would not come, she was just inviting them out of respect to her mother who passed very recently. 4 of those 15 are coming and I'm freaking out for the rest LOL. Kicking myself now for giving in, that's forsure.

Well that doesn't AS bad then. I just don't understand the guests that don't RSVP. My grandma didn't RSVP at all.. I had to ask my dad and call her. People can be so funny with something that seems so simple.

Thank you! Our guest list is 300 so I have heard from 2/3 of the guests!

I had roughly the same amount of RSVP's that I had to call and ask about - start calling now though as I had 3 invites that got physically lost in the mail.

Most of the RSVP's that I had to chase down were indeed no's though. I sent out 240 and got over 50 no's (to be fair about 40 of the no's were from people who live 4.5 hours away from the city and my wedding is another 45 min. past the city limits...)

100 people!! wow, that is mind blowing. There is usually a few stragglers that miss the date, but 100 is a lot. Hopefully you get their response soon!!

I have my rsvp date in 2 days as well. Out of 100 people we did invite plus apparently 10 extras -.- =110 Only 30 have rsvp and I am currently hunting down the rest to see if able to come and sending friendly reminders to people as well!

I did have about 14 reply can't come in last few days plus 30 who can and I am getting rsvp's back slowly who can come.

I would say about 10% would be right
